The end part is one of the nicest screens ever made. I keep rewatching the demo just because of it.

This one has style written all over it. I really loved the giant twister and you guys messing around in sideborder. Oh and that car at the end reminds me of old ganster movies. It looks brillant.

Brilliant transitions between beautiful effects plus music from Amiga ( ;-) ). I love my Commodore 64 and you gentlemen for doing such great demos!

Liked the style of the intro. The big twister was just great. The car at the end makes the demo memorable. Interesting audio.

The best designed demo around. Wonderful graphics, stompin tracks by Linus and great code by the Larsson Bros. In my personal top 5 bestest ever demo's :-)

@ pernod: Ehm, yes, indeed, Amplifire of course. Sorry for that ;-)

MacGyver: You mean Amplifire, not Pearls for Pigs, right? (as there is no twister in PfP)

Very nice demo, though for a winner of an X demo compo it was not THAT mind blowing. Would have loved it if it had one more part.
Anyway, the design is sweet! Next to the end part with the car and the twister (absolutely great by then, beaten Pearls for Pigs [EDIT: SHOULD BE "AMPLIFIRE"] by now), I liked the lightsourced vectorballs over tunnel. Maybe the latter was somewhat inspiring the Booze guys for Edge of Disgrace even?
Music (especially the second - not that the first one was bad ;-) ) kicks, too!
The only disturbing memory I have connected to this demo is Pernod boozing in front of the big screen all the time while the demo was shown within the X demo compo, being in mine and other people's sight ;-)
Btw, at Oxyron party 2008 Gideon ran this demo from the 1541 Ultimate, which made my jaw drop since this one is not only having an IRQ loader, but even a C128D-CR incompatible Krill loader.

Wow, this sure has grown on me. Probably had unrealistic expectations when first watching it, after all those sneak peaks. Also the music sounds a lot better now... I'd still say Linus has done better, but not much. :-)

Personally I've come to like interlace over the years, especially in intros, since I think it adds to the momentum of a demo.. it probably sounds wrecked but I'm not expecting anything else from my humble self. Anyway, as a group member, this was of course a totally unbiased comment :)

I can understand a vote of 6 (I'd rate it higher personally though :) but a vote of 2? Although someone has voted down at least Error 23 and Unicorn CE in a similar way so we might just be dealing with a troll here... :(

Entertaining - I like the fact that you have spent a lot of time on transition and 'design' for lack of a better word. Linus does sound effects and instruments very well. Finally, though I could bully you for needing so many people to make a demo I choose not to!

Great design with nice harmony. I think they maybe used x-expanded interlaced sprites for fast and cool introduction. (I am not sure, I didn't check) But in my opinion this introduction is really cool one with flickering(I don't much care about this flickering think)
I liked second music. It has simple and cool bass sound and this fits the demo aswell.
All pixelworks are really really good. Effects looks crazy both visual and technical perspective.
Only negative thing; demo is too short.
Anyway. Congratulations to Jackasser,Linus,Mirage,Pernod,Sander,Twoflower. Great work.

@sander: yes I am quite sure scout referred to the 2/10 vote, but one bad vote doesnt count for "the downvoting" has begun.

Sander: I did not even think anybody cared for my studies. And i am not even sure i considered that much before voting. ;D

@The Wrath Divas: Perhaps Scout was referring to the '2' given... Not your arthistorical-well-considered 6 or 7. (edit: oops, i get tensed sometimes. sorry :)

@scout: jeez one low vote and "the downvoting" has begun, you dont think you are overreacting ?
And IMO this demo is not top 10 material :) what our opinions differ ? *gasp*

Weird I voted a 6, and yes: I am hidden. My votes change over time so I will probably end up giving this demo an 8 within 2 months time! /Eddie

...and the downvoting has begun!
IMO, this demo should be somewhere in the top 10 demos.

Besides that, this demo was the cream on top of the X2006 pie.

Amazing demo with some minor flaws, which were already pointed out by others. The intro and the ending really got me going. Very slick! It really shows that C64-scene's most talented designers were involved.

Say no to sideborders.

A great demo with great sense of motion and great clean design! This is for me something that stand out from the ordinary demostyles. The intro and the last part with the car is the best parts.
Very inspiring!

excellent intro which must be viewed on the real thing for maximum pleasure. the ending is great aswell, with lots of beautiful gfx and transitions inbetween, only downside is that for being a somewhat effect oriented demo it doesnt have that many effects

This one sure deserved to win. One thing I don't get is why the logo and the credit text had to be interlace, hires would have looked fine imo.

That twister was just sick! I was sitting behind DeeKay during the democompo and he kept nodding off because he is an old man and the dancing before made him all tired. He was zzz'ing again during the beginning of the demo and I tried to wake him without success. When the twister came on I was like, He HAS to see this, and flicked his neck. He woke up and was like WTF and then WTF again at the twister and this time he stayed awake for a bit longer :D Good times

Border madness, stylish graphics, quality music, and smooth fast paced flow. However, the greetings part is too long, it feels like from another demo and it sorta ruins the momentum.

Fabulous demo. Just the twister is there for a bit too long (I know it's great original new effect, but try to explain that to Atari and Speccy ppl at party when you do demo-show of the best c64 demos ;). The total time of the demo is a bit short. The bombastic beginning was promising a lot more, but on the other hand I'm happy that it's so clean, not hurried and 100% finished. That's a good thing. Thumbs up to all it's creators. I love you and hope for something even bigger from you in upcoming years! ;-)

Very good demo, a 100% winner at X. Some very strong effects like the eyecandy twister or the double zoomscroll, and I must mention the big-sprite multiplexer over a 4x4 fli tunnel as well... Very good music by Linus, I especially like the first tune. And this one doesn't lack the presence of enough good gfx like Sphaeristerium did.

Last time I encountered such attention on the quality of the transition effects was +H2K, the denial of the presence of the sideborderborders is absolutely natural in this demo. Well done Jackie and all the rest of you.

The only complaint I have that it hangs on my c128. From 6 attempts it ran to the end once. :/

HCL, I agree about the message thing, and thanks for the big laugh. :)))

A perfect party-dänga!! There was never any doubt who would win this compo, and besided, small bugs don't show on big sceens ;)). And common guy, message!?! Does a demo really have to have a *message* in 2006? I'm ok with some demos having it, but please let's not make the scene poetry a requirement for demo quality.

It was also a big experience just to watch Pernod reaching Nirvana during the compo, with some help from the sound system, the audience and a few puffs on his precious jolle:) while his own fudge-twister was shown on the big screen. We had him traveling around the village of X in those horse cars (droska) during the Sunday morning hours, just in case someone wondered what the f**k that was all about. He was shaking hands with the less talented village people and they were all celebrating him as the new king!! He took all the pride from this success, eventhough JackAsser did 90% of the work. But you just have to learn that's the way it is, if you're the little brother, you'll always come in second hand :).

Ok, dudes, think i slipped into the scrolltext writing mode there for a while. Gosh, i'm still speeded by the not yet forgotten liquids and the party spirit. Help me down someone!! Gaaaahh!!

This demo was one of the last demos shown at demo compo and I was a little bit dissapointed before watching this one. But when the wild bunch started, I realized that I didn't come all the way to the party place just for meeting people, boozing and strip shows ;) Thanks for the great VIC show.

well, extremely polished, thumbs up for the weird 60s/todays mix design, the gfx is absolutely awesome I also love the music, However I would have prefered more than 3 effects and less polish :( I love the end part, for the others I've already given my compliments on irc to jack :)

Yes!! What a party demo. Inspiring work by the brothers JackAsser & Pernod, and not just that, the music is great too! This is probably the best demo i've seen so far this year, not forgetting Krills "artefacts" 4k demo from Breakpoint.

Some cool code and excellent GFX of course... But I don't know, I'm still a bit disappointed. The intro is cool, but after that I feel some pace is missing, and there's even the odd visual bug here and there. Also Linus has done way better. Still a good demo, but it can't compare with the best.

Wow, nice design, nice music ( really nice ), nice effects, nice graphics. only thing that drags it down is two effects that have too much hubris, being on the screen far too long.
