CreaMD, I saw that page many years ago. Thanks so much for doing this. :D
I actually think my mother saw it too and she was a bit moved to tears when reading it. Ha ha.

Guys. Sorry to say it, but this was NOT done in 85. This is a part of a prank some of us in Fairlight started last year. So this picture was made (by me of course) in the later part of 2017 if I remember correctly. This picture was then put into the Rambo II game. We swapped out the original picture. Fixed some code and other stuff. Remade an original cassette tape with a case. It was then supposed to be found as a mysterious alternate version never released by Ocean hidden deep in a warehouse of the duplicator. This cassette was then sent by an old employe around the world to a preservator. This prank really didn't take off as it got stuck in the mail somewhere and I thought give it a little gentle push by releasing this picture and hopefully get some talk going. Therefore I did still state it as made in 84/85. But today the whole story leaked on Facebook and it all fell flat. So I thought it is better to say it here that this is not as old as I said it was. Its still me who did every pixel though, but instead of 1985 it was made in 2017.

It would have been a bit more fun if this all could have run its course but it was a bit hard seeing the comments and knowing the truth was out there. Sorry again. Still hope you appreciate the picture though. :)

Mirage, i can understand your question. I had some similar thoughts. But i have to believe him, if he says this is from 84/85. At least, it's not a typical pixeling technique from that time...

I'm curious, how much did you modify this picture afterwards? It looks nothing like the graphics you were doing in '84 and that signature looks more like the one you started using after '89.

Still pretty nice, though.

Amazing, especially considering the time it was made! Cool find!
Would probably have won the Rambo-compo back in 2011 if you'd dug it up back then :)

Quite a cool find! This is adapted from the Renato Casaro poster, Ocean might already had an agreement to use the other one in connection with the game.

You should have got the job for sure. I think the ocean logo is a bit hard to read @ THE "O".. I'd hate to think THAT's why you didn't... but yeah, Ocean were ALL about that branding : P

Really *GREAT* work! Seems it was one of the biggest mistakes from Ocean. "XECUTION 4" was in the past one of my most loaded demos ever. Graphics and music in combination were *KICKING* and has blown lots of my speakers =)

I can only say "RESPECT"! I watched recently a lot of graphics from 1984/1985 and your piece is a real highlight for that time! :D

A couple of months ago I got an image of a disc I apparently sent to Ocean back in the days. My wish was to make loading pictures for them and to show what I could do I did one for the upcoming Rambo II game they were going to release, hoping that they would chose it for the game. Unfortunately they never replied. I forgot about it until recently when I got this disc and rediscovered this Rambo picture I made. This must have been 1984 or 1985.
