Converting IFLI pictures to this format is not a problem. Please find attached a picture from mirage. Direct convert without amendments

The mode sounds interesting, but I think your presentation of the idea is letting you down a bit. Your example pic just makes this look like another tool for converting jpgs to the C64, rather than something that a graphican might use to convert their hand pixelled images to a C64 displayable format. I'd be much more interested to see what happens if you processed some well know IFLI images with your converter, a bit like Crest did with MUFLI.

The woman in the picture is Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3)
This mode is only really intended for images that contain a huge amount of colors in tight spaces. Anything less than that, then i would not recommend it at all.
Editor for it would be great (But i was really thinking of something PC based (Although not limited to windows).
Until accurate PAL emulation hits the emulators, I agree that pixeling / amending on the real thing is important as there are many quirks that are not emulated. Pixel blooming/black bleed etc.
With the exception of smaller gfx modes (SHFLI), this mode is perfectly suited for all the pal blending experiments in hires

That is not Jenna Jameson.. pah!
And Algo, i appreciate all your hard work, even if no one else does.

Scary... it's so nice that it really scares me. I wonder when we will see some kind of editor for that. :)

The gfx mode is a lot like the one i used for the hands+butterfly in Recycle, except i used non-x-expanded multicolour sprites under AFLI, simply because i found it really hard to pixel anything decent with expanded sprites. It looks like a converter does a pretty good job with x-expanded sprites, though :)

PAL: You're right, this does look like a JPG that got converted, not like pixelled. But that's because Algo is not a GFXian! ;-) As a mode, MUCSU-FLI holds a lot of potential also for Pixel-artists, just like NUFLI!
It may be a bit smaller and has the forced grey border of AFLI when you don't have sprites left to cover the bug, but it has two nice advantages that NUFLI does not offer:
1) It has full FLI, which -like the picture shows- enables you to use PAL-blended colors. Due to half-FLI this is not really possible in NUFLI, i just tried it and put the picture through Mufflon, it's a blocky mess!
2) It has multicolor sprites, offering more than max. 3 colors in 8 pixels width, you have a choice of three instead of merely one. The pixels are half a char wide, yes, but you can see it is not as big of a problem as you would generally expect...

Now what would be needed for acceptance is an editor on c64 to actually pixel it! 8) Please don't make these editors PC based, i *know* that especially in hires you definately want to be able to give the finishing touches on real hardware, even with PAL emulation and all it is simply not correct enough!...

while this is maybe clever code and all I still think that this is not what the c64 graphics are about. To me this looks like a windows machine with 256 color display that just remapped a .jpg 24 bit file to the windows palette in a way. I kinda like the clean look of carefully put pixels with a fixed palette and resolution and so on... but hey, that is only me perhaps!

Wow, very nice! ;-) This appears to be a mixture of SHIF and UFLI, eliminating SHIFs major flaw (too small area)...
You really make good use of the full FLI in the example picture, lots of PAL line-blending colors....

Yes its Hires FLI with X expanded multicolor sprites. There are 5 expanded sprites (240 pixel wide) with the FLI bug only on the first three chars. The two char columns on the left and right edge are plain AFLI with no sprites. (The last three char columns could have been used as AFLI but not used to centre the image.)

Yes, Other non-windows versions (Linux) will be released. The screen dimensions are 272x160. Draw or convert any picture using the Pepto palette and feed it into the converter.
In most cases there would not be barely any requirement to amend in comparison to other gfx modes due to the reduction of color clash. The example picture used in the preview would cause many attribute clash issues on other modes but works well with this FLI per line variant.

Well, to say that shit doesn't flicker i would be happy to start drawing with all those colours.... now Algo, please make a win/osx/'nux editor so we can pixel direct in that format instead of converter...unless your converter lets us output in other c64 formats to edit after. Great work though mate! maybe some coloured pattern test card would have shown more of this mode?

An example picture from my MUCSU-FLI Converter.

What is MUCSU-FLI?
FLI per line with multicolor sprite underlay!
I have provided an example picture for attempt in converting using other converters. No amount of sprite color splits can substitute for FLI per line especially when there are a huge amount of colors in tight areas
As there is FLI per line AND sprite underlay, images can take advantage of pal blending without breaking the image.

The C64 exe is a direct convert without any amendments
