But we do care Snacky, more than they did back then. We just don't rip stuff out of the games to make it small, that's not an accurate representation of the game. That's the whole reason we do old games, to do them better without things missing.

Granted I don't really care for adding stuff that didn't originally ship with the games, but some people do and that's fine too for people who want some kind of enhancements.

So here's why I did IFFL: I released games that in the original version have been a full disk side, with a lot of disk space that was used for no reason!

See Logo for example: My release is not a disk, but only a file <100 blocks!

Of course, if you compress the stuff you need to make sure that it always works: and the load effect is a side effect that might be negative.

In today's world: NObody cares anymore of size! But back in 1989 we did care if you needed 600+ blocks or 100+ blocks for a release! Believe it or not!

call it level-packer then. I guess you already understood what I mean.

There was already level squeezer in 1989?

There are a lot of useful trainers here but the packing/loading system is not acceptable, even for 1989 standards. A simple level-squeezer would have done its job perfectly. My two cents. Just look at other groups releases.

For being 1989 I guess it is not that bold. Doing this today is another thing.

Call this a "jewel" release is really a bold claim...

This one is tightly packed. The only thing is the scan from the start at all load operations.
I guess if you have DolphinDOS this isn't as much of a problem.
With normal load it gets horribly slow.

Note that this makes it compatible with VICE's virtual device traps.

Quote:

The load routine ($6c00) seems to scan the file from the beginning everytime to find the needed data, using normal kernal IEC routines.

thats how early (lame) iffl linkers worked =D they dont save space, and make loading times longer \o/

So what is the requirement for that?

Here the data has been linked into 3 files instead of many more.
The load routine ($6c00) seems to scan the file from the beginning everytime to find the needed data, using normal kernal IEC routines.

Wasn't this the first IFFL-o-fied crack, ever?
