@ goerp

You can load the last entry in the d64 dir

Load "Basic Ball",8

And then

List

Hokuto Force policy says that Basic Games may not be interruptable by run / stop restore keys so I blocked that.

The listing is weird I optimized the size to gain interpreter speed, removed spaces and used short names wherever I could in order also not to overwrite the Bitmap with basic code (which grows during runtime due to arrays).

My planning of memory management was bad and in the end I preferred to squeeze the code instead of changing the hard coded addresses.

Haha, when I started it up at first I thought I had a hacked version from csdb. Nice intro.

I played it today and read the instructions this time, so I knew it was BASIC and I knew about the SPACE + joy option. That's the only extra option you need.

The hit box seems good. Shame you don't get to see the ball going through the net.

Is the BASIC listing readable? It looked a bit obfuscated.

@ TheRyk

Thanks for your feedback. What else would you add until you speak of a game instead of a proof of concept?

You have 1 and 2 player mode, you can choose the number of rounds, you get an evaluation in the end. So in terms of functionality, what are you missing?

I like the intro and its music.

Cheers 4 finishing it, though it's more proof of concept than an actual game :)

Impressive! Amazing that this is done in BASIC.

Apart from the little intro in the beginning, the game is coded completely in uncompiled V2 Basic. I know this won't make it a compo winner. Still I felt the need to show what you can actually do with Basic and that you are also not bound to using text mode.

Autostart the d64, resp. load and start the first entry in the dir list to see the intro and manual instructions. Load and start the last entry in the directory to start the game directly.
