Didi: We will defend the fact that the trainer is not broken per se - it does what it is supposed to do (thus meaning the release is not broken), but I care less about the points for ending up in Jazzcat's list... And Triads release is of course superior.

A thing we should spend energy on: Why do they sell these bugged games? :D I understand it as they feed the buyers with digital downloads hoping to iron out all bugs reported - by the buyers, using them as paying playtesters - before they sell the physical copies. That procedure is a bit questionable imho.

I presume neither Excess nor GP tested it that far on their fast releases. ;) Triad had way more time for testing.

I would not expect to be killed by an enemy when selecting an infinite health trainer, too. As a player I would not care about technical implementation. You can ofcourse still die by timeout or falling into a trap. But I would not compare a boss to a trap. IMO it is valid to declare both trainers broken but I also understand your point and why you defend your trainer. ;)

The problem is that the Queen does not kill you by draining energy. She just plainly kill you immediately on sight. One could, as Triad did, interpret that as she takes all your energy in one chunk, which isn't really true.
Energy isn't involved at all. She just pulverize you on sight. If the trainer was called invulnerability I would call it broken as you actually die by the Queen, but as it is implemented here, protecting against energy draining, it actually do just that, and nothing more.

I did not know who marked this as broken. Otherwise I would have talked to Didi before posting my first comment below.

I'm also not sure if this release should be regarded as broken. Below is just my personal opinion. It would've been best to simply state in the scroller or trainer menu that the "unlimited energy" doesn't protect from the queen...

I marked it broken when Triad unveiled their reason to call their version First Release. Made sense to me. Would have done on GP version too, but it was locked.
I did not discuss this with Goat. It's his own independent opinion.

Knight Rider: It was Didi who marked it as broken, then Goat (why not Didi?) tried to explain why below.

Just my humble opinion: "Unlimited energy" implies that you can't die because of enemy contact.

So, for the player it should be regardless whether the game handles the collisions differently... he would rely on "unlimited energy" meaning not being able to die from the enemies.

Yup. Seems like that. :) However, I had a long chat with Taper about it, and we concluded that we both understand each other's points, and that it isn't an obvious thing. Where you would side was not a very hard guess, though. ;) Cheers.

We discussed this internally, and do not agree with Triad, as GP and Excess did not train invulnerability, the releases are not broken. First of all the Queen does not drain energy - she directly kill you (you can compare it to a wargame where you train energy, thus protecting you from shots draining energy, while a mine, for example, still can blow you up. In that case invulnerability would protect you against both, while energy trainer just protects you from what drains your energy). The game is not fucked up either by the trainer, and is not broken. The bugs in the game were there to begin with. It is very nice by Triad to fix ingame bugs from the original, but GP do not consider our release broken.

Shouldn't this and the GP version be marked as broken?

I changed it back. I don't know who marked as broken. I believe from tapers comments that the original release is bugged as the queen can only be attacked from the left.

The GP and EX version were trained (possibly identically) independently of each other.

When I 1st got hold of the game, i immediately dismissed it as not worthy. However the next day I have it a 2nd chance. The game grew a little on me during training.

I supported the developers and bought the game.

Why is this release marked as "Broken"?

Is it marked because of Taper's comment at the Triad version of this game ("Previous cracks had energy trainers that were not in effect against the queen.")?

In that case both, the EX and GP versions of this game should be treated the same, because the trainer in both versions is the same ("unlimited energy", but not against the queen)...
