This bug with quitting at start exists and caused problems on MacOS version too :) I think there should be a version number of config file at the very top to avoid this in the future...

I have encountered a similar problem, no window created after starting the program. It quit immediately after an unsuccessful attempt to execute "gfx_init" with the arguments of xsize=0, ysize=0. Apparently "bigwindow" variable was missing from the 2.74 configuration file and defaulted to 0. It seems that the format of a configuration file must have changed (probably a new option named "window scale factor" was added). I have fixed it by starting the program once with an additional option of "-w1", after that I am able to run it normally without any additional parameters.

Hm. No window is created, seems to exit immediately after trying to start. --help output in terminal works.
