Hey JCH
MCM already suggested - please do Daft Punk but..

What about Around the world by Daft Punk ;) ?
I think it fits this technique right. And the title already fits well ;)

Ah yeah as said great work and fresh filtering. Would love to try Sid factory II someday. But working in Laxity 21.G5 is fine for now :D
@rupy: Good question. e.g. Would you bring out your same song twice? The second one with just using different snares on your Bass? I think people should do that, brings more variation :D

Is there some good reason music is not released with both 6581/8580 versions?

Thanks. =)

If Laxity didn't mention it I would also have gone into details about the real time packing too. It's not so much that you can have ginormously long sequences, it's that the packing makes the tune much more WYHIWYG. This tune sounded exactly the same after packing it.

I wish I could say the same thing about e.g. CheeseCutter, but alas I can't. The last tune I made in it had an nifty explosion effect that was completely nerfed after packing the tune. I had to somehow work around that.

But to me, the best thing about SID Factory II is the gray orderlist overview in the left side. It makes it easier to maintain a good overview of a song as it gets really long, something I was never really comfortable with in neither GT2 nor CC.

See that column of empty space in the gray orderlist? Description lines are planned to appear there later. Then you will be able to have stuff like "B-piece" or "Chorus here" or "Fix this POS later" - how about that? I almost can't wait for that feature myself.

Love the music, Jens. It’s amazing and pushing the driver a lot. :)

For those interested, the editor is build around a paricular driver framework - this means data and some update flow is fixed for all the drivers available to the editor at this point. Eventually the driver framework will become an abstraction in the editor code, and so it will be possible to support different kinds of frameworks. Inside the editor, there’s a 6510 emulator which executes the actual driver written for the commodore 64, to produce the output (through ReSID ofcourse).

SID Factory II is in many respects just an evolution of SID Factory, where the most significant and obvious difference is the editing environment, but also the fact that sequence data, while presented like a tracker, is packed while you edit and therefore allows for significantly longer tracks (I think I put the cap at 1024 events per sequence, as long as it packs to less than 256 bytes per sequence). Another benefit is that after packing the music it should sound the exactly same - although I might have to upgrade the 6510 emulation a bit for better cycle accuracy.

As Trap mentions, there are things like packing directly to sid, but that’s more to make it convenient to create sid files. The song markers for communicating with other systems is a driver detail, and so not an editor feature.

The editor is one hobby project among a lot of them, and so development velocity is very uneven. :)

Pretty interesting results for one voice on the singy bits.

Frantic, the feature list is quite extensive. For those who don't know - SF2 is the brainchild of Laxity. He's putting on quite a lot of hours in it. It looks really awesome. Two specific features I really like: export to SID and the ability to create timing markers both manually and automatically. So much more in this. Release date? I don't know.

@JCH: Does this editor/player have some particular noteworthy features (except for things working in a way that you like personally)? :)

It is actually been developed with public domain access in mind, but it's not quite there yet. Essential stuff like e.g. subtunes are still missing, for example.

This is my first tune in SID Factory II. It's also my first attempt at creating something I call "filter speech" which is speech emulation using filter and pulse in just one voice.
