Without ECM you would have to stick to only two colors in total (as colorram is still fixed location when using FLI). This is why colorful tech-techs are normal in multicolor or in some cases different colors per char line or raster line using d021...

You could do it like Censor did and use FLI with hires bitmap (instead of multicolor) but would be limited to 32 pixels for a fullscreen picture.

What I did was use black as char color and the 4 ECM colors for the rest (which is why I had to change a color as the original picture has 6 colors in total). As I had only 64 chars available per font due to ECM i ended with a total of 11 fonts (some of which only cover one char line). As I use two memory banks i only have room for 10 screens giving a width of 80 pixels...
