that outline-merging sprite scroller is incredibly cool!

I wonder how this wasn't nominated for the Meteoriks? Such an amazing production, I just rewatched the Transmission64 compos on YouTube.

Great demo, felt very polished with much attention to flow and neat transitions when there needs to be. I liked the calm music and Joes graphics is always very enjoyable.

Very nice graphics! Scrollers! Design! 50 fps! Also I don't think I've ever seen the coral scroller -type before. World's first?

Nice last gesture, before you retire Firehawk. :) Thumbs up for the source, now everybody can replace the discus-fish with their own 'wish-fish'. *looool* ;-P

By popular demand I've attached the main source files to the release. Hopefully this will be useful to someone.

So, Firehawk, can we please make discus fish the theme of your comeback demo? It could be argued that it's an artistic choice to break up the monotony of just following audience expectations and instead do something fun and unexpected. So yes, you get a discus fish instead of a great white shark. Enjoy the WTF moment! :) Anyway, I do like that this fact was pointed out as I'm also a sucker for details.

Of course that fish could survive in salt water. Eventually all fish die, this just speeds up that process. Look at it poetically. Big art.

Inserting the discus fish was my idea, and I deeply apologize and have no other choice than to do the honorable thing and retire from the scene.

What??? A freshwater-fish put in saltwater? That's definately a no-go and animal-cruelty. Therefore, as sad as it is, i think about lowering my rating by one point now. *lol* Or can you release a V1.1 in which this bug (aaeehhmm i mean fish) is corrected? :-)

@Wile Coyote: Oh gosh! Seems you are right? Facepalm.
Good then this is an imaginary world and demo which has very little to do with the real world.
Part from the electronic components of our beloved computer running it ;D

It took me 2 days to recover from this one! Saw it on the stream and was blown away! Fantastic code, great art and amazing music. Wow, really one of the best demos lately! Congratulations for #1!!!!

As daft as it might sound, i did question how a Discus fish made it into the mix? ..given the demo opens with a scrolling ocean followed by a coral scene. Followed by other salt water creatures including a Lionfish, Clownfish, Seahorse, Crab. Sadly no Great White shark. There does appear to be a fair amount of disk space remaining to add another part or two :)

Little code post mortem by Firehawk would be awesome. For majority of stuff here I don't have even a glimpse of any clue how things are done, let alone in 1 frame :O Seriously, the most mindbogling piece of code I was graced to see recently <3

Deserved 1st place in the compo! Has so many nice effects in it, one better than the other!

When seeing the slide with "Hoaxers and Wrath Designs" during the compo stream, I first thought "Hopefully not a REU-only demo". Seeing the effects one could think it *is* REU only, but obviously you did not need any steroids!

Thank you for this gem!

Kick ass demo! Well done all of you! <3

I sense some inspiration on the layered Knut-scroller from Remains. ;)

The merging-outline scroller is a true WTF moment for me. Really cool!

And the sideborder full image mover is also damn awesome.

I does not seem to work when having a 1571, which is what my setup was configured for. Changing that to 1541, and it works out nicely :-)

It should run without any problem on the Vice emulator (even 3.5 and prior using x64sc.exe!). Not sure why you can't get it to work on your c128's though.

Impressive show! Great graphics and moody soundtrack for submersive atmosphere, with outstanding coding that warrants a peek or two in the memory monitor. =)

(But please update that ancient loader. =D)

The wibbly wobbly vertical scroller against a coral backdrop looks really something.
WoW - the full screen image swinging left'n'right into sideboards.
