SD2IEC is only crap and Master is only a local lamer? Interesting statements, or one could also say insults. Who do you want to insult next? The people who, in your opinion, are using the wrong controller on their C64? But your opinion doesn't bother me much, to be honest and now more than ever, I will upload further versions of Master here, when he releases some and I hope, that others will continue to upload them too. Look, over 200 downloads here already in such a short time! Isn't it great? :-) There's definitely interest in such versions, which is normal, because the SD2IEC is widespread. Do you think all your transfer-tools for example, are of interest to many people here? To be honest, that's rubbish to me.

You do you, I don't give a shit either.

This release is crap, not scene and a recrack. The end.

If what you write were always strictly adhered to, then many entries would have to be deleted here in the CSDB, after the fact. Who exactly is a scener and who isn't? Do you have to go to demo-parties regularly, or be in a group or not? Are all people, who publish SID files or pictures here, real sceners? It would be going too far, to discuss this here in this entry.

But you should also decide, what exactly you criticize about this release here. First, it had something to do with customized loaders, then it's about the SD2IEC (which is supposedly crap), then it's about the credits in which someone isn't mentioned and now it's about the user "Master" allegedly not being a scener. Interesting, how obsessively you're looking for reasons, to criticize the entry here. But let me answer with a song by the Ramones “I don't care” :-)

I have different views of what is scene. Master is just some user on F-64 and not a scener. This is not a scene release imo and should be removed, period. It's spam, that belong more on lemon or gamebase64 than here.

No I don't speak for everyone, but again csdb is about scene, not local lamers crunching things, recracking stuff or patching other cracks to work on hardware fad of the week.

Whether someone is a member here or not, matters in that moment, when it's claimed, that this person didn't mention anyone in the credits. If someone doesn't even make the entry here, he can not be blamed for that. And it's not true anyway, because Section8 is mentioned in the production-notes, here in the entry. This crack is from the 80s by the way, whether that still matters to those from Section8 forty years later, whether they are mentioned here or not, is the other question. *lol*

And Fungus, you are not speaking here, for all users of any C64 hardware. There are certainly many SD2IEC users, who are happy when a game is made compatible with their hardware. The "Bomberland" version from Master for example, has over 800 downloads so far, so there is definitely interest for such versions. You dont like the SD2IEC and think it's crap? No problem, only your opinion, not more. But don't pointlessly complain about versions, that were made compatible to this hardware, because for others, they are useful. For many users of today's computers, the C64 is also just crap, but many here love it. And which manual anyway?

Cracking other people's work, not even mentioning the names of the programmers (who really did the work) and then complaining, when others create SD2IEC-compatible versions of games from some old crack versions from the 80s, as in this case here with the old Section 8 crack. Ridiculous. But whatever, just keep going.

That manual is included with my crack. When I type the docs I always put the credits if they are in the manual. Try again! :)

This is so way off topic of this release, whatever. Enjoy your crap versions for your crap hardware.

Not that it matters if someone is "a member of csdb". at all.

Then he hasn't been active here for years, because all of his versions in the last years, were uploaded here by other people. In any case, he doesn't even mention himself in many of his versions, neither in the intro nor anywhere else.

In case you haven't noticed, Master isn't a member here in the CSDB and the production-notes state, that the "Section 8" crack was used, and "recrack" is also noted here. Master himself wasn't even mentioned at all in the game or in the intro of the game. So what's all the complaining about? But "ripping off other people's work" is funny, especially in the context of cracks. For example, where are people like Bill Eberle, Jack Kittredge, Peter Olotka, Ted Schmeckpeper, and Trevor Western listed in your "Lords of Conquest" crack? After all, they programmed the game back then.

Oh, I wouldn't complain, if Master didn't rip off other people's work without credit.

Maybe it's cheap, so what. There are still a lot of users of this hardware. And with all due respect, you have to leave it up to the individual users, to decide, what they buy and what not. There are plenty of SD2IECs out there, and that's what this version here is for. I don't see, what's wrong with someone providing a compatible version of a game for a group of SD2IEC users, therefore i am thankful to Master, for all his SD2IEC- and Easyflash-versions of games. I have a 1541Ultimate too, but i still use my SD2IEC's at least as often.

sd2iec is cheap, and the 64k ones are not the official one anyways. Cheap clones of an inexpensive device is weird. Still the 128k is not expensive, upgrade and don't buy dodgy junk from Ebay.

Well, the "GI Joe" loader has been integrated into the official sd2iec firmware for some time and loads relatively quickly, so you can leave him in the game. Alternatively, you can also use the newer, unofficial sd2iec firmware from Martin Thierer for example, in which more fastloaders have been integrated in the meantime. The only problem with this is, that it can only be used on SD2IEC devices with 128k microcontrollers. On devices with smaller memory, such as my two 64k SD2IEC devices e.g., this unofficial firmware can not be used, without throwing out a number of other features from the firmware, which would also be bad. Since there are still quite a few SD2IEC devices with 64k controllers in circulation, it makes sense, to use loaders that works on all SD2IEC devices, no matter if the official or the unofficial firmware is used.

Well the game uses an IRQ loader, which you'll have to use some loader with the custom firmware for sd2iec that supports them for it to have a proper version. Would rather see that than low effort versions tbh.

As it is a recrack anyhow - why bother?

@Stormfront - Yes, the Remember version is good and also onesided on a normal disk (d64). But it don't work on SD2IEC, therefore, another good version, with which you don't have to change the disks all the time, was needed, especially for users of this hardware. By the way, there's also an older m2i-version for the SD2IEC, of this game and it can be converted to p00 files (after m2i was removed from the SD2IEC firmware), but this older version had some stuttering in the sound and also took longer to reload, on a SD2IEC. So there was room for a better version and here we have it.

This version should be runable on sd2iec without disk change, nice.

I still prefer https://csdb.dk/release/?id=39978, a G.I. Joe +7FD, onesided and proper trained one with bug fix.
