On the one hand the csdb-rules are right: something like this is an "unauthorised modification". On the other hand, one can easily differentiate between a "mod" and a "crack". Csdb offers dozens of categories for every kind of release. So why should "crack" mean almost anything?

BTW - shitloads of such "cracks" happened during the life of the cracking scene ... this is nothing new.

which is the same thing =) or do you think that crackers asks permission to disassemble and change code to either remove protections or add trainers?

I see. I've never read the rule before. To me a "crack" always meant removing a protection, not an "unauthorised modification".

PsychoAL: "c64 crack" is the correct label for something like this. please check the rules page for an explaination :)

Because the rules are like that. Read up about it in the Help section.

...Laxity called this a "crack", but they only trained it and added their intro. There's no protection at all. Anyway, it's fun to see that some group thought this game is worth to be re-released as a "crack".
