Orignally, he is our main composer in F*A*I*C and he basically invented SID music before C64 was on the market.
Trivia :
My old tunes from 1988-1990 were made on 6581 SID - recently I discovered that using "Trurl6581R3_4885" filter emulation in Sidplay2 gives the tunes much of the original sound back.
So if you liked my Galactix V2.0 or the title theme from our Combat Zone game (subtune 5) from 1990, so please select this filter if you use emulation of 6581 SID.
Since I "came back to my basics" in 2013, I decided to go for a modern editor. After examining different solutions, I decided to go with CheeseCutter from Abaddon/TRIAD, which is a crossplatform editor that allows me to work in 800x600 pixels on any "modern" platform such as Windows, MacOS or Linux.
This allows me to jump into the editor, push my ideas right into the SID without the hassel of broken or slow floppies, no problem with strange VICE behaviours nor 320x200 pixel limit.
I mainly compose for 8580 as its easiest to emulate "close to real hardware", and I got so much a fan of this brilliant tool/toy that I decided to help others start using it. No matter what background they may have for SID composing.
So I decided to create a Facebook community for SID and CheeseCutter fans/users/beginners/pros. In there we aim to help anyone interested in composing SID tunes with CheeseCutter. Pro or beginner, everyone is welcome. I just have to "accept" your request, so I can filter out all the spam-robots attempts of joining too, because spammers/trolls are kicked :-)
2013 has been a thrill for me, after 23 years of not composing for SID. This is really back to the roots, or as my first tune was called "Back 2 Basic". A tune that ended up being used as the "Credits" in our Scrollwars/Offence demo released at BFP2013. In that demo you can also find Starhiker which I had to rearrange countless times as our demostoryboard kept getting swapped around in the weeks, days.. well, even hours up to release. Fun and exciting to be part of such a great demo. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did making it.
