Oh goodness. Great intro pic, cylindrical scroller, and the coolest things I've ever seen done with checkers.
Well done, bros!

The drunken reflection from Puterman is enough reason by itself to watch this demo again.

Think Jak T Rip says it well... This demo is really enjoyable to watch. Nice production. RadiantX's music is simply awesome. Definately a repeater! The big rotating 3D-scroller in the first part is one of a kind. Really like the animated mommy, it stands out. I'm not a fan of checkerboards but it works well here. Thumbs up guys!

It's strange - there are surely better demos than this one, but there is no other demo I watch so often! The reasons are:
- the music is absolutely brilliant and always makes me happy
- the title picture is one of the best koalas ever made, I LOVE THE COLOURS and the theme
- the demo is fast paced and just fun to watch. Very short but all very well made

Deekay: You are right, Nebulus was the inspiration. Always liked that game! Oxidy drew the graphics just before the compo, and I can't remember telling him about Nebulus. Maybe he figured it out too!

Am I the only one that noticed the nebulus sprite in the background of the barrel-scroller-part? <:-) That would suggest they took some inspiration from the game for the effect...

Great Demo, my fave in the compo! When the huge scroller and that Metalslug mummy came up i was actually sitting here alone, cheering! 8) Also that chessboard-effekt at the end that looks like motion blur... Wow!
Too bad it's over way too soon! And Mirage totally shows off his Gamedesigner-Mojo in that title screen! ;-D

I have to chime in with the rest: The scroller and chessboard totally blew me away! Great success!

*argh* Must kill Jackasser for this!! This chessboard looks exactly like the one I coded some month ago. By the way, brilliant production. Great gfx and music and the code is kicking ass. A bit short, but I expect more to come on X.

wow, jackie boy puts again all chessboards into deep shame (how on earth did you do that?:), and the scroller is there aswell.

go go go, Super Larsson Bros!!! everything i see in this demo is top-notch! a bit too short though. i'm also really curious about what we can expect at x2008.

<advertising>also be prepared for a small demo by 'the not so super oltmann bros' at x2008!</advertising> ;)

<edit>in the end we never attended x2008 'cause of some flu that knocked me out. the demo still remains unfinished. :( </edit>

Very nice little super production. There are few fx, but they feel very fresh and look interesting. However I know someone will not like to see your chessboards (hi Cheesion :) ).
I wish the party scroll had a nicer font and faster movement. I know, I know, you had no time left for the details... ;) Also nice gfx+anim by Mirage.

I almost fell of my chair when I saw the scroller on the bigscreen, it's amazing! I voted this first in the compo because of it =)
And the Metal Slug-zombie is also awesome, although I didn't recognize it during the compo.
EDIT: Oh, and the music rocks too!

OMG - Pernod does it again, that scroller is sooo amazingly outstanding. I feel it wasn't done much justice within this demo, would love to see it standalone. Also mayor props to Jackasser for the chessboards, rocked bigtime also!

'The Larsson Bros' - the hottest team on the scene!

it's short or not, it rocks. not too much effects, no mega-demo etc. but what you see satisfies you.

I love the picture in the screenshot. Very well done and spot on for what was needed for this demo. Not too keen on the rest of the gfx, but of course Pernod's scroller rules bigtime. The music is not bad either , and I quite like the chessboards too. Considering that this was put together in the last minute before the party, I think it holds a lot of promise for the Super Larson Brother's future work. ;)

The big scroller is one of the coolest ever on the commie, in spite of the bugs ;-) ... Is is just me being confused or isnt the zombie "taken" from Metal Slug? oh, BTW, love the music...

well Mirage, those graphz look pretty cool to all of us. I think you should open a c64 art school for lamers like me to learn techniques.
Also can you please release Timanthes, i'm dying to do animations on c64. :)
(sorry for lamo begging)

This simply blew me away! The style reminds me a bit of A1200 stuff, although this is even better. Amazing work, Larsson brothers & friends!

A bit disappointed with this one. Rushed gfx from oxidy and me (2 days and on-site) but the music and the effects save the day :)
Can't wait to see the super-bros-and-archmage X2008 demo... i've seen some previews and they make this look like cow-shit :)

Cute production.

@ Tempest: the bassline slightly resembles the one from Magnetic Fields II from Jarre.

It had my top vote. The music combined with the cute visuals and awesome effects had me :)

@Rambones: It works just fine on my 1541U (using the 1.1 firmware without external diskdrives and dma loading the first file)

also, nice idea with the blur effect on the zoomer. looks very good.

A bit short, but excellent scroller/zoomer. Didn't want to mention it before, but I think the dithering in the picture doesn't belong there. (This boomerang is for sure coming back at me some time ;))

Overall a fine demo!

...and that particular melody was originally from a Jarre tune (no, not Night in Shanghai) or something. I remember hearing it from some crappy synthesizer hits CD. Nice demo btw :)

Although a small demo, the effects are nice and the music sounds awesome in the background. Part of the music sort of sounded like part of the Green Beret title music, perhaps that was intentional :)
