I've just left a much shorter version in the forum discussion (cf Release id #178591 : Dataliner - Native Python 2.7 Script) which
- runs under either python2.7 or 3.x
- produces identical output to the original for input files bigger than 18 bytes
- supports input files down to three bytes long.
- doesn't rely on producing a temporary file.

But really, zaarko's edit is fine - I'm just procrastinating about some other things.

CSDB-user Larry asked me to make the native Python script public for Linux/Mac Crossdev.

Here you go.

Please note that the script has been developed with Python 2.7.

There is an experimental Python3 version included. It works aswell, but you will see that at the end of the text file the last few DATAs are printed one value per text line, which looks a bit ugly, but does not affect functionality. So since the source code is now public, feel free to fix. :-)
