Again, Nostalgia only supports real hardware and accurate emulation. If something doesn't work take up with whoever made the faulty emulator/hardware.

I appreciate all what you refined in this game. It now feels like an old glorious but flawed stock car that 30 years later was restored and modded into a flawless classic race car.

Insane level of awesomeness!

Oh, is there a NOS wishlist? Me want ports of Strike Force, Raiden and Desert/Jungle Strike! ;-)

Speaking of arcade releases, I always had a soft spot for Super Hang-On. Maybe NOS can give a crack at that sooner or later. The C64 version had ok graphics and even level variation in the track but the frame rate was a bit slow diminishing sense of speed and the music lost a channel whenever sound fx was needed.

Golden oldie with new ideas and wonderful graphics in a successful reconstruction. Excellent work! Thanks to NOSTALGIA crew for this great engagement!
BTW: Another game which can be played with a foot pedal (footswitch) in port #1 to throwing the grenades. ;-)

Love this game. Great new graphics and additional implementation. One downside to this game. I don't like the jazz style music in the game. It doesn't suit the theme. I would have expected something more up tempo or orchestral for a combat style game. Still, a very good game. Looking forward to the G & G Arcade.

I quite like the USA version of Outrun. Oh, good Commando update btw.

Submitted by Frantic on 22 March 2015
Yes.. When I suggested Outrun I was actually kind of kidding precisely for the reasons that Oswald point out. I was just thinking of the massive disappointment that many people had when they were kids and tried outrun on the C64 after seeing the arcade version. (For anyone who want to play something which is 99% similar to the arcade version, including music and everything, get a Sega Saturn and a steering wheel.)

most brilliant release guys! @outrun, doubt if it can get anywhere near of the original. thus pointless. maybe something like power drift, but eventho its technically brilliant still crippled by the char resolution movement.

@all thank you for your appreciation and I would just like to say that Ghosts n Goblins is complete and has been since before Christmas. only the music is stopping its release. so please feel free to bombard 6R6 with pm's ;)

Hedning: you are right. Outrun sucks, and that's why we would love to see a remix of that one too :)

I think it's real awesome that enthusiasts are updating (and re-creating) the classics! I'm very pleasantly surprised by all the great things that have been done with this game. I hope more of this update/remix projects will be started in the future. Keep up the good work and keep the C64 and the scene alive!

This is a new version of Commando Arcade with completely new Graphics on All levels, transitions and everything you see.
Thank you STE'86 for GREAT work you did on this one. The Game is otherwise the same (almost, there are a few surprises here and there).

* Completely new graphics everywhere
* 5 new levels added. Game now has total of 8 levels like arcade
* New Barracks, Hangar, Chopper, Level transition, etc. graphics
* New Level features
* New glitch-free Sprite multiplexer
* New Scroller
* Chopper that drops you onto the battle field and picks you up
* Level Transition screen animations
* Score, Lives and Bomb counter fixes
* Code bug fixes - no more crashes
* High Scores in attract mode
* Game Over sequence added
* Two new Sound modes with new SFX and new tunes by 6R6
* Loading screen (by STE'86) and Loading tune (by 6R6) added
* Pause added with Quit option
* Easyflash version with High Score saver to flash and backup to disk
* Universal File version that should work on any device
* IFFL version with REU support
* PAL and NTSC supported

Remember ... press SPACE to select new Sound modes. You can long press FIRE to fire grenades.
Check the Summary and Docs for more info ...

A note to different versions:

FL (FileLoader) version should work on all devices. It still has a custom loader for 1541, 1571, 1581, etc. most common devices though. It will work nicely on SD2IEC, IEC2ATA, IDE64, etc. and will use your speeder of choice (JiffyDos, Dolphin,...)

IFFL version will work on the most usual devices as all IFFL loaders do. It will be much faster on those devices too compared to the FL version. It is also the only version that supports REU (256kb required, whole game will be loaded to memory!)

EasyFlash version doesn't need much info. It will save highscores to cartridge of course and those highscores are compatible with FL version too!

Have fun !
