Wonderful demo! Such a pleasure to watch this one, I'm coming back to this one again and again :-) Can't say which of the parts I like most - they are all great. Awesome code Raistlin, Elder and Sparta! MSX & GFX are fantastic, too!

This demo is doing all these kind of effect tricks where u need to know the inner machinery of the breadbin! And that is just hats off!! Not everything is next level or WOOOOOOOW but for sure this is just a great effect driven demo.. The music is very strong to! Bob's balls the next evolution.. But the whole place clapping in memory of shadow is the best part for me!! Keep em coming G*P.. Greetz to Raistlin!

Quoting “Bob”
world records made to perfection. Raistlin you fooled mee, that you won't be able to work on a X demo etc. But obviously its here

Hah, thanks Bob :-) .. next time I’ll tell you the truth and you won’t believe me - or am I just telling you this so that you will? ;p

Thanks for the kind comments (here and offline) about the bobs, too - looking forward to your answer :-) … not all groups took the rivalry so well (when they calm down I’m sure they’ll review the demo properly ;p).

Love this, particularly the colour blending on the shifting checkerboard effect.

This almost feels like a Bonzai demo ;) ... in every possible positive way. So happy to see you guys kicking some serious ass. just 3 coders on this one. That requires a LOT of respect from everybody. You guys definitely upped the game in super polished demos with awesome effects. Subtle storytelling. Oh man, it's all in there. You guys totally rock my boat and it isn't that hard to make out who made what in the demo - that's unique <3
I have to say that my favorite part in this was the no bounds alcatraz bars. I just love those build-up bragging parts and you totally nailed this one. Thank you for keeping the oldschool bragging alive .. and also in the vectorplotter part - the subtle bragging is really great. Thank you so much for making this. I loved every second <3
... however, you guys really suck a chess :D :D :D

Proper good shit ;) total old-school code pr0n, including loads of rasters, sideborders and world records made to perfection. Raistlin you fooled mee, that you won't be able to work on a X demo etc. But obviously its here. Also nice to meet you Sparta at X what a blast. Totally love this kind of demos since it stays true to the core values of how demos where made from the very beginning in the scene. It a nice reminder where we all came from 8)=) rasters'n'shit. *Awesome Work* Thanx for the Bobs ;)

highlights for me:

* the upscroll that moves towards and away from the observer is very smooth
* the swingy gp logo with perspective colors looks like a nicely upgraded version of the logo from memento mori, and a nice touch with the perspective colors
* perspective chessboard - very cool effect, particularly that both the foreground and the background colors change across the screen
* the massive dxycp turn disk effect - old school stuff, i love it
* the double dypp is very big and very smooth
* the 3d chessboard - love how it subtly disappears into the lower border
* dypp chessboard tech tech - wow, those colors! fantastic!
* 302 bobs - as an old school nerd i love the look of this, and i also like how the part ends before all the bobs have scrolled out
* spinning globe - very smooth!
* the dithered color cycling, the one that has the phone booth sprite flying across it, looks great
* limited bobs - very cool improvement of the effect!
* fantastic final picture

overall, i appreciate how the demo doesn't linger too long on each effect - that both gives the demo a "face punch" feeling, and acts as an incentive to watch the demo again.

Any of the top 4 demos could've won. This has solid flow of a traditional trackmo. Kefrens bars, chessboards and the spiral scroller have me scratching my head.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words :-) .. we’ll be back at a future compo, whether X or elsewhere, with more. I can’t speak for the rest of the team, yet at least, but whatever I do next will be more along these lines than the story demos I think. Not to put those down, they are a ton of hardwork for sure, but it’s not the sort of work that I like - I prefer codeporn, like Performers, even if that limits originality* (thinking up new codeporn is hellish). But I do love watching story demos too - so I hope those guys will stick to that as well.

Thanks again and, yeah, we’ll be back. X’s compo was one hell of a rollercoaster ride of emotion for sure.

Special thanks to BitBreaker and others for reaching out with PMs and such. Made my day.

*- I reread this and think I need to clarify.. I’m not implying that Performers’ demo wasn’t original, far from it. I’m thinking more of myself really.. I can’t keep doing DXYCPs and such in every demo… probably hurt this demo quite a bit by iterating on those for the Nth time.

Krill, HCL, Clarence - thank you for the interest in the sideborder Kefrens part. :) We never called it a "record", although as far as I know no one has made 206 proper (bug-free) bars in the sideborder before, so perhaps it is indeed a record. Clarence is right, two sprites are used, so the max. visible width of the sine wave is 46 chars, which is less than Crossbow's 51 but the playfield is still about 45% bigger.

Great demo with nice touches, like the stylish intro and the cut effect on the huge wonderful logo.

Krill, HCL: hard to compare to Crest (or Offence), this one is limited in horizontal play-area, swings and switches sprites from side to side (if I'm not mistaken), but has more bars. Offence was first iirc, but with some gfx update bugs.

@Krill It must be "Kefrens-bars" in sideborder.. 200 lines, i guess Crossbow made 128 or so.. Didn't Yup/Offence also do it at that time?

Lovely achievement, you can clearly see that a lot of love have been spent on this demo. Overflowing with graphics, matched with quality music and some impressive code. I adore the intro.
While this on reached a well deserved 4:th position in the compo, I can't help to think how much this would have hit like a bomb at a smalled venue, such as Pågadata some weeks ahead.
