Thanks everyone for your comments. Apart from adding direction controls and maybe some sprite pre-shifting, we don't plan to do much more with this game.
Knight Lore is on the to-do list. | User Comment Submitted by TWW on 19 July 2017
Game is not my cup of tea but the work involved in this project is simply awesome! Congratz! | User Comment Submitted by lemming on 19 July 2017
Simply fantastic, with the C128+VDC versions my wish came true! :) | User Comment Submitted by Tom-Cat on 19 July 2017
Great work!!!! :) Keeping fingers crossed for the same treatment of the two better isometric games from Ultimate: Knight Lore and Alien 8. :) | User Comment Submitted by ChristopherJam on 19 July 2017
Nice work on the optimising, and thanks for releasing the source. Fascinating to see the virtual z80/piecewise routine replacement in progress.
And yes, that loading pic is spectacular. | User Comment Submitted by Unkle K on 19 July 2017
Congrats on still finding ways to improve your routines... great work! STE's loading pic is stunning. | User Comment Submitted by emu on 19 July 2017
Pentagram update for C64 & Plus4 and new C128 VDC version.
Ive made some improvements to the CBM code of Pentagram and also made native C128 Vic-II and VDC versions. (Both 16k & 64k VDC supported).
The C64 and Plus4 versions now run slightly faster. Both versions are getting very close to the speed of the Spectrum version.
The native C128 Vic-II version is now slightly faster than the Spectrum version and the C128 VDC version is the fastest of them all by some distance!
Changes include:
5% Speed increase and less memory used by improving all the main CBM routines. (The Sprite Blit to Screen routine is 30% faster.)
Excellent new title screen by STE.
SuperCpu compatibility for all versions. Many thanks to Redrumloa for the SuperCpu testing.
Option on Extras page to fix frame rate at 3 different speeds for accelerator users. (So you can slow the game down a bit to make it easier to play with SuperCpu & TC64.)
Moved fire onto Space Bar and pickup onto M key in keyboard mode. (Pickup is still on the Space Bar in joystick mode.)
Special Novaload C64 tape version, made to look similar to the original C64 Ultimate tape games.
Thunder/Wind sfx removed (sorry!) to keep the music and sfx player separate to save some cpu time.
Please note that if you play the C128 VDC version with WinVice then please turn off Video cache in the Video settings/VDC render box, as you might get video corruption if you dont. |
