The authors contacted me to note that the proper 50 Hz video of Promised Land is at:

Yes, it used a SID card which is common for +4 demos.

Even the wild compo was won by a +4 entry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An1c-UaGJ8s

This was done using a custom cartridge. It had a SD card for storage and could map in static memory for transfers.

On a +4 the video chip can directly display external memory content and it's not just a small amount like on C64 Ultimax.

It's done using interlace hires fli, which is every 2 lines on a +4. And just for fun they shortened the display timing to be close to PAL-60 as it was not smooth enough ;)

It will show up in the SceneSat archives eventually.

I've found another capture of the demo where even the scroll is fine:

is there a video for this color cycling stuff? :)

User Comment

Yes, but that's only because everyone saved their colour cycling stuff for X this year ;)

The sine scroller later in the demo used non-standard timing (<50Hz) and didn't show correctly on stream. It was fine on the beamer.
