So many excellent pieces all around, this clearly inspired people. Hope there's an excuse in the future to do this sort of thing again!

As Electric wrote, the jury did not vote for ranking for all entries. But, for the csdb voting the entries votes were reflected to the actual result achievements at the freezing date of the compo... So that ranking is now seen at the entries. Really great entries, great compo - thanks to all who participated!

Ok, the jury has gathered and smoke just rose from the chimney so here is our selection:

1. Ilesj
2. Vent
3. Ilkke

The compo was tight and three other artists were close to the top three as well. However, in the end the margin was clear. We decided to give prize to the artists, not the works – both Vent and Ilkke had two participating pieces which both got votes from us as well.

… and, while writing this, the CSDB ranking shows that the public prize goes to:

Vent (9.4 / 5.10.2018 at 12.00 Finnish time)

So, we congratulate all the winners (we'll be in touch with you) and thank all the participants for the great works sent.

What especially warmed us is the fact that with this compo PETSCII very well showed it's potential with covers. So, we hope to see lots of PETSCII covers in the future as well.

ALL the works sent to the compo will be shown digitally as part of DISK COVERS exhibition that will start 12.10.2018 in The Finnish Museum of Games in Tampere, Finland. The exhibition will last until 6.1.2019.

About the exhibition (in Finnish): http://vapriikki.fi/nayttelyt/tulossa-disk-covers-c-64-ja-demos..

Thanks!

THE COMPO IS OVER!

Our jury will select the winning three as soon as possible and announce it here.

Meanwhile, voting for the works here in CSDB remains open. The one with best ranking here will as well get a prize, so vote!

Thanks already for all the participants!

PETSCII DISK COVER COMPETITION

The Finnish Museom of Games and Zooparty invite you to create your own
disk cover with PETSCII. We do not set a theme but if you want to do
something C-64-games related feel free to – cover for your favourite
one or game of dreams is ok.

Specs: 40 x 56 characters PETSCII image (including flaps)
Deadline: 30.9.2018
Delivery: upload your work to CSDB in this chain or send to Electric
in: tomustur@gmail.com
File formats: Screenshot PNG or .c file from proposed tool

To help your work we’ve created a template that you may use. This one
is made for Marq’s editor but you may use other editors as well of
course:
Template: http://www.kameli.net/marq/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/diskcover..
Editor: http://www.kameli.net/marq/?page_id=2717
Prefs for cover template size:

We’re giving prices for the top three sponsored by The Finnish Museum
of Games and Zooparty:

1st Price - The Praised, The Loved, The Deplored, The Forgotten : A
View into the wide history of Finnish games (edit. Annakaisa Kultima &
Jouni Peltokangas)
ISBN 978-951-609-873-2, 196 pages
The book highlights the diverse and long history of Finnish games
since 1918. The sample of 50 games consists not only commercially
successful digital games or board game classics, but oddities and less
known gems like a game played in a live radio show.

2nd Price - ZOO T-shirt

3rd Price - The Official Timeless ZOO Calendar

CSDB Price (highest rank) - The Official Timeless ZOO Calendar

You may work out as many entries as you want but only one piece per
person will get a prize. The prized works will be selected by a
4-person jury consisting of Pasi 'Junkie' Vainonen, Ari ‘Duce’ Seppä,
Arto 'Ziili' Siili and Tommi ‘Electric’ Musturi. The results will be
released in October here in CSDB. All the works participating will be
exhibited digitally as part of DISK COVERS exhibition at The Finnish
Museum of Games, Tampere 12.10.2018–6.1.2019. The full rights for the
works remain of course with the artists. The organizers take right to
remove material that may be seen as racist, sexist or offending. The
Finnish Museum of Games is available for children as well, so behave
:)
