Clarifications: You have to enter your music as a runnable PRG. It has to work on an unmodified C=64 with a SINGLE SID (6581 or 8580, you may specify your preference).

You can optionally also enter a SID file with the entry. You can enter separate versions for 6581 and 8580, it will still count as a single entry.

Visuals are optional. They WILL be shown to the judge, but he will be asked to not let them affect the verdict... An attempt shall be made to explain all the different techniques that we will undoubtedly encounter again.

You can enter two separate entries (as long as one is not using samples).

Since the first Techno Compo happened in 2021, which was massively popular, insane, people say it was the greatest compo of all time, I DON'T KNOW, but that's what they keep saying, I hear it all the time everywhere I go, but what's been happening lately is people have been coming up to me, fine people, some of the most beautiful and respected people in the scene as a matter of fact, with tears in their eyes, saying "SIR, please, it's time for another techno compo, last year was the worst year of my life, because before that I saw what life could be like when there was a techno compo, and then I had to endure a whole year that did not have any techno compo, and now it's time to have another one sir, PLEASE!"

Therefore the time has come to let you know that the second coming of the Techno Compo is upon us!

TECHNO COMPO 2023
DRUM'N'BASS

(You decide what to do with the third channel!)

So, same as last time, instead of relying entirely on the CSDB points system, we have a CELEBRITY JUDGE! This year's celebrity judge, in accordance with the theme, is none other than:

MUFFLER

(Yes, THAT Muffler!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Bv5MYT161Y

The compo is announced STARTING IMMEDIATELY and the deadline is at the end of the day on FRIDAY, June 30th, 2023 23:59:99.999 CET!

After that there is the VOTING PERIOD which ends at the end of WEDNESDAY, July 12th 2023!

MUFFLER will select the TOP 3 tracks!

The rest of the standings will be appointed according to their CSDB scores at the end of the voting period. The CSDB counting system is mysterious and many entries will have an even score. The relative order of even-hitting entries will be decided by myself and VINCENZO, using maths and when that fails, our own taste and intuition.

The results will be announced at the AROK party on 14.-16.7. where VINCENZO will also play a DJ set featuring entries from the competition!

Multi-speed and samples are again of course welcome in the Techno Compo! You may enter 2 SIDs in the compo, BUT! NEW RULE! If you enter 2 tunes, then at least one of them has to be a SID-synth based "regular", "non-sample" SID!

I know many of you have been working on four-to-the-floor bangers, waiting for the eventual techno compo to manifest, but don't worry! Even if we're trying to fill the relative shortage of BREAKS in the world of SID, of course the overriding MAIN theme is still TECHNO, so you can compete with anything as long as you think it will leave a lasting impression on Muffler and the C64 scene!
