Totally awesome idea for the tool and the event. If I ever do a VCS prod again, this will be definitively on the list. Great job!

We have two winners, an amazing runner up and one loser <3 F/\DE and 6R6 got the shared first place, congratulations! Many thanks to all participants, listeners and voters. Grab the mp3/wav sounds recorded from Atari 2600 Jr., Atari ROM's, C-64 executables and a fabulous diploma slash t-shirt design for the winners at https://bit.ly/starbarscompo - Beep beep!

Having listened to all six entries..
..this is how I would place them:

1. Happy Yummy Bear by Triace
2. Electronic Downscale by Røly
3. Kamitsure by F/\DE
4. Atari Bacardi's by GRG
5. Mathematician's Air Display by Tempest
6. Stella 2600 by Starlight by Aleksi Eeben

^_^

For the sake of the compo, I will vote accordingly.
1=10
2=9
etc.

Thanks for providing all 2600 ROMs. I based my votes on listening to the music using the REAL hardware.

Grab the vote pack at https://csdb.dk/release/?id=234927! There's C64 single-file voting pack with menu, plus separate C64 executables & Atari 2600 ROM images for both PAL and NTSC.

- Last day to vote is 9 September
- Highest CSDb score = winner (Except if there's not enough votes for all 6 entries so that CSDb can calculate their magic weighted score, then I'll calculate the simple average score for all entries and highest = winner)

- OBS! OMSKAKAS! Updated submission information: Do not create a CSDb release (non-executables are not allowed). Instead, email your submission to aleksi.eeben@gmail.com and I'll collect them together for voting and/or make executable C-64 releases of them!

Star Bars Atari 2600 Music Competition
Submission deadline 15.8.2023

Who needs 3 voices? Two is enough!

Star Bars is a music sequencer and play routine for Atari 2600 video game console from the late 70's. The editor runs on a Commodore 64 and exports both PAL and NTSC Atari 2600 ROM images containing your music and the music player code.

Star Bars uses Tiatonic Tuning to achieve 8x improved frequency resolution over TIA chip au naturel and it can play the full chromatic scale over 6 octaves. No more awful out-of-tune Atari 2600 bleeps! C-1..F-2 and E-3..F-6 are the most accurate note ranges. F#2..D#3 and above F#6 are a bit hazy.

- Download the editor at Star Bars Atari 2600 Music Editor

- Find the manual at https://bit.ly/atari2600starbars

- Submit your tune as a PRG (music data saved from editor) or a D64 file with/without the Star Bars editor included on disk. Mark your release as released at "Star Bars Atari 2600 Music Competition"

- Competition starts now (1.8.2023) and runs until 15.8.2023

- Submitted entries will be collected to a single disk image on 16.8.2023

- Voting ends on 20.8.2023 and the winners will be announced. Winner gets lots of fame and visibility!

- Only CSDb votes count and you can start voting when the first submissions appear

- Barbie and Tie Tycoon are not in the competition, they're just example submissions
