Magicans   (MGC)

- Again The First ...
- Again The Best Quality !!!
- We Are Magic

AKA:
The Magicans

Founded by :
HD & Stad in 1984

Group Types :
Demo Group, Cracker Group, Magazine Staff

Base Country :
Germany

Trivia :
A small Group from the early 80s. I just saw two of their Releases like the heavily modded Smon Variant "Magic Mon101%" with included Test and HiRes Sprite Editor. I was in contact with "TPK aka The Pail Kid or also named HD" from the Magicans. They came from Moers in Germany.

According to Giana Sisters Sound-Ripp (January 1988 - written by founder Stad) Magicans were born out of some internal trouble in Alpha Flight, and even call themselves "The New Organized Alpha Flight".

When they were born out of AFL and AFL itself was founded in 1985, they could not have been started in 1984.

So I think that 1986/7 might be a closer guess...

Unless it's all made up -very possible, check group trivia ("born from AFL") - they could have formed the group but remained local for some time an probably just copying other stuff for themselves and doing nothing else while "studying" how to actually do something scene-wise. When they finally started releasing they could have chosen handles to sign their stuff.

How can Stad have founded this group in 1984, when his handlestory states that his handle comes from a movie that was released in 1986??

As there is no proof for a 1984 release here, I'd guess that a founding year of 1986/1987 would be more accurate.

It probably is. Sceners were pretty young in the 80s.

I always thought that Magicans was a typo for Magicians.
