This was really our only demo. The Judges had been releasing their Think Twice demo's showing off some new technology they called FLD (flexible line distance). It was pretty cool.

Fil had managed to extract the code from one of their demos and passed it to Neil to do something with it. Neil passed to me (KMS) as it wasn't working properly. After fixing it we came up with the idea of having a joke at the Judges expense (we never meant to offend you Judges - we actually thought your demo's were some of the best around).

So, I drew a large (thingy) with a hand holding it and munged The Judges logo to be The Dudges and Crabby made some music which sounded like something The Judges would have done. Lots of drums n stuff.

Then we took it all to Neil and told him that we wanted the hand to use the FLD code to move up and down the (thingy). Of course there had to be a scrolly message to tell everyone how good we were (not). Someone came up with the idea that the scrolly message should move really slowly and the only way to speed it up was to (wink) the (thingy) using the joystick!

I think Fil might have written the joystick code - He would probably not admit to being part of this :)

I think Neil has a blog somewhere where he mentions Gil as being involved. The reality is that Gil was terrified of me as he though I was insane or something (a rumour I did not deny) and so kept his distance.

We did actually meet The Judges once at a computer show in London. We'd taken a disc with our demo on it and had proceeded to load it on every C64 we could lay our hands on. We stopped when we were introduced to White - he was *huge*.

It was all a good laugh though.

Crabby went on to do lots of music demo's using Fil's Ariston music player.

Fil went on to do the first re-write of Tetris as well as trying to sell The Ariston.

Myself and Neil went on to be boring PC programmers.
