ptoing: this release was not made to impress with gfx or win a compo. The reunion party was a very special event and the very fact that a guy like Lightside who was inactive for what!? 23 years!! did produce C64 code again is in itself just awesome. That's the spirit!
When I heard you had actually sat down and created fresh new C64 code I was thrilled... and this release turned out quite well, I also think the conversion turned out very good (good sign if people argue whether or not it was wired).
The allusions in the scroller are ace... | User Comment Submitted by LightSide on 12 September 2018
Hi all, thanks for your comments and feedback. Yes, it's hard wired. No dithering. I have very limited to none experience with creating GFX on the 64. This was more about getting something ready as a contribution to our party. Not perfectly a gfx release, but then again, it would probably not fit in any other category. It was fun putting it together and I got the original idea when I saw this one https://csdb.dk/release/?id=33173. Note to self: must dither.... ;-) | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 29 August 2018
No dithering, a bit bored by the internet reference. Seems to be a pretty quick fix | User Comment Submitted by CreaMD on 28 August 2018
It was mixed creative compo. No strict rules. This graphics was more like small singlefile demo, I think it rather should be in that category to prevent controversy with purist graphicians ;-) | User Comment Submitted by ptoing on 28 August 2018
If it is mentioned in the scroller that is good. But fuck me, that scroller is pretty hard to read, with all the flashing and just flat colour font. Oh well. But yeah, people stating if stuff is wired is OK.
Kinda pointless to enter it into a compo tough. Then again does not look like there was a proper focused compo here anyway. | User Comment Submitted by ThunderBlade on 28 August 2018
No surprise here - the scroller states it was converted (oh, I love the old-school term "wired" :-)) and even the original author, the cool Mark J. Cairns. The compo allowed everything - it was a fun event. ;) | User Comment Submitted by ptoing on 27 August 2018
Tineye finds it. And if that is the case it's pretty surely wired. I really wish the demoscene could grow out of this lameness. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 27 August 2018
Exploding First: Probably because it's wired? ;)
