Both halves are updated. Please note that there is also a full screen single demo (press „@“). This demo shows the features of the render engine, it is not meant to be playable. So proper steering, movement, and objects are part of a game development using this engine. Nevertheless you can use the fire button to move and turn slowly. In my eyes this is what can be done using mode7 for a C64 game (speed, memory consumption, resolution/colors). But if someone proofs me wrong here I would be happy :-) | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 2 April 2019
quite good framerate for what its doing (both screen halves updated?), but totally unplayable, the map moves in to big steps forward. plus the resolution.. well its not your fault 6510 can only this much at 1mhz. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 2 April 2019
Chunky but impressive! :) | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 1 April 2019 User Comment Submitted by Sokrates on 1 April 2019
This is a "mode7" engine demo. The idea came from a discussion in Forum64. The engine is designed to be usable in games, so it is a trade-off between runtime, memory, and graphical quality.
I have no intentions to make a game based on it. If someone is seriously interested in it, please send me a PM.
The karts have no physics, they just visualize that every map point can be annotated with additional data, e. g. to splash in water, jump on wood, stop before walls, and slowdown in grass or water. |
