First thoughts: Cute little ditty. Then: oh my gosh! :) | User Comment Submitted by Frostbyte on 3 August 2020
One of the catchiest tunes from recent years, a proper earworm! This is exactly what I was expecting from the 25Hz compo: Raw or even primal sounds, but top notch composition and melodies galore. There is some very clever sound engineering there too, but just used as a spice, not as the main course.
Somewhat to my disappointment (and equal amount of amazement) 25Hz didn't seem to slow down the sound engineers at all. Many tunes sound like they are multispeed rather than half speed. However, many tunes also feel more like sound engineering showcases rather than proper compositions, making them very intriguing, but at the same time easily forgettable.
Not this one. In fact, any more polished sounds would have just lessened the individual charm that this tune offers. Now the balance between rawness, cleverness and composition is just perfect.
If it is not blatantly obvious yet, this is very much one of my favourites from the compo, and easily gets into my all time top 100 SID tunes too. Well done Mibri!
PS. It works brilliantly on 6581 too, at least on Vice 3.4. Very crunchy and nice. :) | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 31 July 2020
Great composition and sounds. Recognizable Mibri sytle.
It's great to see that everyone in this compo found a way to do "business as usual" – just with half-speed :-) | User Comment Submitted by psych on 26 July 2020
One of the top materials! Really like everything here, sound, mood and those cool leads. Great work! | User Comment Submitted by Mibri on 21 July 2020
@GH: Yo, thanks a lot for that! I do like my riff-y little melodic phrases, but I would also like to try branching out into composing some more complex and lyrical leads (like yours)... so maybe next time! As for the '4' vote, well, I have no quarrel with the downvoter, honestly. I'm only trying to make the music that occurs in my imagination, and if people aren't able to get into that, for whatever reasons, then that's OK, it doesn't have to affect me. :)
Cheers everyone for the comments and votes; this is a very interesting compo! | User Comment Submitted by GH on 21 July 2020
yes great stuff! Not to found of the lead phrases just going up and down :D But sounds are amazing. Who is the little fucker who gives this a 4? anonymous votes so sad, why are we still doing this sigh :/ | User Comment Submitted by F7sus4 on 21 July 2020
While the beginning didn't really convince me, it quickly evolved into catchy entity. Totally agree with Jammer, soundwork starting around 1:35 is just pure madness. (I also particularly like the title.) | User Comment Submitted by MCM on 8 July 2020
