The idea of this coop was the theme “Paranoid Android” from a song by Radiohead. It was decided The Sarge was going to do the main subject and Mikael the background. The Sarge started sketching out ideas in Procreate and made some initial colouring and showed Mikael which he approved. We let each other roam free within our assignments in the picture without too many nitpickings going on. :)
When the robot was done we didn’t had any idea what to fill the background with but Mikael came up with the idea of ghosts in the background to symbolise the word paranoia and being hunted by something.

There are several small details that points to the paranoia symptom.
The electrical cord means disconnected from reality.
The mess of cables with shortcuts coming out of his head means that the brain is malfunctioning and not in order.
The open door on the forehead means that his mind is open to too many influences from the outer world causing distress and in the end paranoia.
The ghosts are the hunters that are out in full force trying to get him, which is the main symptom of paranoia.

Process:
1. The Sarge drew the robot in Procreate on iPad Pro.

2. The Sarge started pixling the robot head with the sketch as the reference.

3. Some more pixling by The Sarge to get a feeling for the background.

4. Mikael took over and started sketching the background.

5. Mikael continued and first monster and the idea of the monsters coming into or out (?) of his head started.

6. Mikael finalized the ghosts adding more and some small tweaks here and there. This stage involved a lot of back and forth between The Sarge and Mikael where each adds and tweaks small things on their respective parts.
