So is that true for ANE #imm too? Does LDA #0, LDX #$FF, ANE #$FF read the same "constant" as LDA #0, LAX #$FF on all machines?

Thats totally correct - it's perhaps not quite as instable as we thought :) I noticed this after changing the constant to 0xEF in VICE - which makes wizball crash :)

I don't understand what's written about LAX #imm. If you can read the "magic constant" with LDA #0, LAX #$FF then either the Wizball routine does not work on all machines, or LDA #0, LAX #$FF always reads $EE.

It's also interesting to know about the Wizball programmer knowing about illegal opcodes at that time. :) Very nice.
