Yes, they are playable.
My only complaint in this version is the VERY LOW volume, I have to crank up the volume knob on the speakers to hear something, while on other players I keep my knob less than half way to hear already loud sounds.

I thought that difference was fixed recently? Is this not using the latest reSID?

BTW, I assume great discrepancy between 6581 and 8580 volume is emulation of voltage difference but I wonder if making 8580 that quiet is very practical eventually.

Nice universal sid player with clean balanced sound, when you don't need/want to mess around with different 6581 revision filter distortion modeling.

Probably the best SID emulation I've ever heard.

I tested this with one of my own SIDs with this (Funkrock) mainly because I wanted to see how it handled the triplets I did with the hi-hat sound. Even the real C64 hardware would struggle with playing it nice and clean for each note of the triplet each time, this new version of Sidplay did extremely well with it, better than the real hardware.

spider-j: There was never my intention to keep this close source. I've just been too lazy to do something with it.
Now, I've done something with it and pushed it to github ;-)

Nice.

But why is this still closed source? Afaik it's been 11 years since the last version which really suffered from a bunch of SID emulation glitches and bugs that were fixed a long time ago in reSID/fp. I really loved this tool, even as a linux user, but switched to sidplayfp some time ago, just because it is so easy to keep it up with reSID/fp upstream.

Are there plans to keep this one up to date?

Wow! My jaw dropped :O
Any chance for configurable stereo panning for 3SIDs? ;)

dano: I don't know why but it worked for me only while playing a song. Else I get the same problem, closes the player as soon as I select the hvsc dir. A bug yes, but workable around.
