It takes amazing artistic skill to be able to use PETSCII and create art that looks like small pixel hires graphics. | User Comment Submitted by Jazzcat on 16 February 2024 User Comment Submitted by Mibri on 16 February 2024
This is really beautiful!
It's an interesting question, about what constitutes a 'logo' in the context of the demoscene. Is there an implicit distinction between a demoscene logo and, say, a corporate logo, where the definition of the latter can be more flexible than the former? After all, the classic Commodore logo is a "C=" symbol that doesn't actually include the word 'Commodore', and the contemporary Apple logo is literally just a silhouette of an apple. Hell, one of the old logos for the games development/publishing company Psygnosis was this crazy combo. If we're being strict about demoscene logos only consisting of the name of a group/scener in artistic lettering, then I suppose they have much more in common with graffiti tags?
Anyway, back to the release - looks lovely, group name integrated into the broader design very tastefully, warm applause. :) | User Comment Submitted by Shogoon on 16 February 2024 User Comment Submitted by Zierliches Püppchen on 16 February 2024
Great Idea, who said, a logo could not be a one-screener with a sprite scroller or other interesting stuff. Very cool. <3 Luv it. I dont know why, but Starbucks. Awesome. | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 15 February 2024
Clear and fair, everyone can judge in their heart and express it via voting. /me convinced. | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 15 February 2024
But there was a logo, afterall following her head in this one. I like the other two examples as clear derivates of computer groups and their postures, chars or not. And logos, letters are afterall a higher languague of images from evolution. But there was a logo, after all following her head in this one. I like the other two examples as clear derivates of computer groups and their postures, chars or not. And logos, letters are a higher language of images from evolution. I’m no semiotic, my brother is. But images are constructed far longer than we humans can remember. Haha, just to be reminded, at least several thousands of years, and evolution, well that’s a per million ones. People forget this and so they make compos, they use already used fonts, they use cheats and they use A.I. I'm happy to look beyond it, to see what there is, beyond them millions of years, on a screen. | User Comment Submitted by Hein on 15 February 2024
My thoughts as well, you can downvote on C64gfx.com if this is neither a fork nor a spoon to your definition. Also, I might create some logo-logos and place this one out of compo when I hit my limit of 3 entries. Have fun. | User Comment Submitted by Raistlin on 15 February 2024
I can understand both sides of this … but if we consider that CharSet logos are great for intros, and that’s one of the main uses… well…
Card Sharks
That’s clearly bitmap… but you get my point.
I’d say that with all of these, just leave it to the voters once all the entries are in. Try to remember that “what happens on CSDb stays on CSDb” - it’s on C64GFX.com with our new voting system, once ready, that you should be focused :p.
Nb. I’m not sure that’s the best example tbh ;) .. other than to say that “you can still recognise a brand from a picture”… but I guess that still doesn’t make it a logo. I’ll get my coat :-) | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 15 February 2024
matter of opinion, but to me the focus is clearly on the logo which bends so recklessly yet wonderfully in PETSCII around an additional element, the face | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 15 February 2024
I had exactly the same comment. The logo competition is a logo competition, I wouldn't like it to become an occasion to do full screen graphics competition that includes a logo component. There is every demoparty gfx compo for that. Logo gfx and full screen gfx is separate skillset (which by the way is accented by two separate categories in CSDb). No offence intended towards this great piece of petscii.
We don't want this: Rotting to be entered as a "wackee/arise" logo, right? ;) | User Comment Submitted by goerp on 15 February 2024 User Comment Submitted by Scrap on 15 February 2024
I can understand Flex in this case. It is a superb and beautiful piece of PETSCII art, but can you call it a Logo? Anyway, it’s a great screen and I love it | User Comment Submitted by Flex on 15 February 2024
Great great pic but I see this more as that, not that much as a logo itself in there. I'm maybe a bit strict in this manner but hey, it's a Charset Logo Compo. | User Comment Submitted by Pixelnacho on 15 February 2024
Great composition, great use of lettering and a very sweet pic. 10/10, loved it. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 15 February 2024
