Dear party organisers, even IF there were only a couple of 64gfx entries, it would have still made more sense to run a separate 64gfx compo.

It would have made a lot more justice to the entries and gfxians as well -- I am sure the currently 3rd/4th ranked pics better deserve a 1st/2nd place.

As far as a mixed Amiga / peecee gfx compo, one or the other of these platforms doesn't make as much difference, as long as the entries are _pixelled_ rather than just a Photoshop-filter-job.

I don't have much time for extensive reasoning, so very shortly for all orgs concerned. Namely KB, Scamp, a everyone else involved in major party organising. "Please, put your innovative mixed and oldschool compos up your ass .."

... I wish you happy mainstream dekadence.

Why all this yelling just because of a compo-result? This isn't the first fucked up gfx-compo you have experienced, is it? This is like a robot senario.. Pic by Leon = good. #4 = bad. *ERROR* -> scream. Start from the picture and rank it yourself instead, or don't even rank at all.. Ranking only makes you compare things that maybe shouldn't be compared.

Anyways, i like. The red scarf saved the picture. The rest is very well pixeled, but only gray would have made it a bit dull despite the good pixels.

A little correcting...
You've mistaken about my comment. My problem isn't with the 4th place in the award.
The stands of this contest isn't so important. That's why i gave out some other pictures from
my hand, without any "race"-reasons.
The only thing i took as a big problem is that the way You took me to this stand, i think that was
unethical. But it is possible that in this case You couldn't do anything else, there wasn't enough
picture to award...

The other "ex-love-thing" was also ambiguous. Let me explain:
The top of the picture, on the left side, there is a cat, on the other side, so she is the ex-love
That little red part of the image, on the bottom, that's her scarf. It hides many things,
but sometimes it can let you see more than you can imagine now.
The picture might seem meaningless - for You. But... it takes a part of a whole in me. Part of something
great for me... ;_D

Ladies and gentlemen! Behold! In case it ever made you wonder, let me introduce to you the thinking of an average TUM visitor during the mixed pixel compo...

"Oh! A C64 picture! It looks amazing, but wait... This picture is made in grayscale! Hmm, let me wonder a bit. It's grayscale, and converters always work in monocrome... Oh yes, I think I'm getting somewhere...

Ah, and there is a chick's face on it as well! I'm more and more sure it's wired as converters are mostly limited to convert faces of pretty pussies!

What, workstages? Well, never mind, they're sooo easy to cheat anyway! And especially this Leon guy seems fucking suspicious, he sudenly popped into the scene, he hardly has even a decade of pixelling behing his back!

But wait, there are some other pictures on this compo too! Well, that C64 pixtÖr from Leon was great, yet I'll be still higly objective after those 14 beers and 7 pots, compare the capabilities of the C64 to the higher platforms... Yes, they're pixelled on PC, not on C64 with 16 times less colors and limited editors - but I guess it's allright to compete all these shits togeter. All in all, the orgos pulled the magic word "pixelled" from their pocket and they're doin heavy tricks with it! Man! Please stop your typical plattform whining!

Hmm, I wonder where is Rayden these days? He was so cool and original, I bet he'd be first on a mixed pixel compo with his ulktrascrolling sloppy maxterpieces, not like this converting Leon guy, blah."

C'mon dudes. Can't you understand it's not converted without seeing the working steps? I felt Leon's spirit in each pixel. And Leon is the most active c64 graphician these days and he has a style. If you follow his works, you'll see that this picture is pixeled by Leon.

@Leon: Very nice picture. I liked your "Dreamland, Deathland, Nightmare" trilogy as well. I don't care about the ranx that much. You're an active talented c64 graphician and that's enuf for me.

Well also here a comment to the mixed competitions. As said we tried to establish 4 tUMs long seperate competitions for the C64. Leon, have you seen the other entries for this competition? Do you really think your entry is better than this ones? Yeah, they are pixeled on PC but they are really great entries. So i believe it is only this typical C64-other plattforms whining here. I believe that nearly every visitor at tUM is able to decide between c64 graphics and things done on pc. By the way. Place 3 is also made on a C64 ... so maybe you should think about your picture and not about this c64-other platforms thing. And as you can see, a lot of people think that your entry was converted because of the perfect looking of the girl and maybe the grey dithering. It sounds a bit weird, but this was maybe not the best choice for a competition pic.

Would you have entered your Breakpoint picture i think you would have won or atleast ranked under the first three.

Anyway! Thanks Leon for this nice picture. We (the tUM organizer team) hope that you will do a picture for the next tUM!

Looks good! The girl and the cat are both nicely pixelled and I like how the red section at the bottom looks alongside the greys.

Excellent technique. Lovely piece of work. How could this not win? The other entries must've been brutally good...

Leon, the flickering on this picture is very non ethical! My eyes bleed!

Well, I find the mixed gfx compo a little bit non ethical. I don't think it was fair this way! I think, I will not send gfx again for TUM. The pic is not converted! On the pic appears my ex-love, the inspiration behind the windmill trilogy...

The phases were provided on a separate disk for the compo. Here it is:

I wonder why there are no workingsteps on the released .d64 on scene.org, while there are for other releases. Honestly, this looks rather converted, but of course you might proove the opposit.
