A "true" IFFL-System does not just link the blocks, but also wipes the free block/sector space at the end of a file when linking. Requires some overhead in the code on scan and load, is a tad slower on accessing the beginning of a specific file than just accessing sector X of a prescanned block-linked IFFL-file.

Syllinor's IFFL-Linker "only" links the sector pointers on disk to a large file. Using a different linker it wouldn't be too hard to handle that case though. V3.2 of his IFFL is pretty well documented TASS source.
