I realised I never really commented on this tune myself.
Originally a piano piece in Protracker inspired by Michael Nyman's work, this is one of my first tests with a detuned lead voice - or actually an entire detuned channel. That gives it a phaser quality. The filter isn't used until the first time the chorus kicks in.
The tune was eventually named Arctic Circles after my guild in a mmorpg game...but also for the serenity that falls over things when they're frozen.
I'm really happy that people have liked it and that it has stood the test of time, so to speak. |

Dane, I always said I liked your gfx and coding skills alot better than the composing skills - but how can I keep this up when you go ahead like this???

| Stumbled across this by chance yesterday, and it just blew me away. And I would never have thought that a tune without percussion could do that. In places this gives me shivers down my spine. Just very very beautiful. I can't say it strongly enough. Hands down 10. |

Simply love it and I agree with 2F, it also took me like 2s to hear it's Dane and seriously Dane this tune screams YOU. But then again, I've listened to all Dane's tunes on repeat for like forever so...

| My no.1 tune in the compo. Cool progressions we don't hear often enough, and switching filters 'n stuff just when I think, yes, now it is time to take a turn. It is tempting to say the very first seconds remind me of... but I won't. :) I definately didn't guess it was Dane's tune either. Maybe I haven't heard enough of his music to recognize certain typical details. Hope you'll make more of these tunes without rythm section, Dane. |

My first guess was Dane, and it was indeed the correct one. If you've been along all the way, hearing early tunes such as Trick Bag, Capacious, Imaginary Visions, Voyages Through Time and Space etc, it was quite easy to imagine Dane being the author.
This tune was my instant favourite. The other tunes in the competition has shifted positions in my rankings quite a lot after repeated listens (and I don't think I'd vote the same way now as I originally did), but this one remains #1. |

what an epic tune.
what i find amazing is that people who dealed with dane's early tunage knew that it's him, while me and several others didn't even slightly think of dane being the creator of this one. |

| One of Dane's absolutely best compositions ever - and I believe I have heard most of everything he ever made. It took me 2 seconds of listening to identify the composer behind it, yet there are many people who couldn't grasp the Dane in this tune even if they had it written on their noses. Obviously, these people haven't been blessed with built-in Dane tunes in their graphic-editors since -93. |
