@Richard: ehrmm..thanks? for detailed description, of course I know what a cruncher is, my question was referring to what it does to make the final compression result worse as the original cruel but that you answered too (no pass 2) 8) | User Comment Submitted by Wisdom on 18 March 2007
I am surprised to see that somehow this one found its way to CSDb. :-) (I had totally forgetten about it.)
Of course, one needs to have some extra intelligence to see that this is not about improving compression efficiency, but about improving overall operation speed (i.e. loading/saving speed and actual crunching speed, albeit in a disadvantageous manner.)
Definitely not needed in 2007, but back then I needed this. :-) | User Comment Submitted by Richard on 18 March 2007
.... but Cruncher AB did :) | User Comment Submitted by Mace on 18 March 2007
@ Krill: both PuCrunch (1997) and Exomizer (2005) did not exist at the time (1994) ;-) | User Comment Submitted by Krill on 18 March 2007
That is, if you really have that oldschool spirit to compress stuff on the C64 itself, instead of using modern and better compressors like PuCrunch or Exomizer. | User Comment Submitted by Richard on 18 March 2007
@Rough. This tool compresses your programs but you did not have to wait too long for the 2-pass mode to finish. Cruel Cruncher was slower, but compressed more. This tool is good for those who lack patience in crunching a game or something :) | User Comment Submitted by Rough on 17 March 2007
just suspicious. what does it do exactly? | User Comment Submitted by Trazan on 16 March 2007
I love all "improved" versions thats actually making the output file worse than the original Cruelcruncher :) |
