We have those kind of clubs back home here in smalltown. Beware of the girls though, they might smell. | User Comment Submitted by bugjam on 13 March 2009
First of all, i find the final pic pretty nice. For the wiring discussion: I stick with the principle "in dubio pro reo" (in doubt for the defendant), so if he states its hand pixelled, I believe it (unless it is obvious, which for me it is not). I still hope that you, d0c, will upload the workstages, just to get the comments back on the pic rather than on the wiring discussion. Only one thing that I would criticize: I find it a bit weird to release a picture as standalone that is to be released in a game, but that´s only my feeling. | User Comment Submitted by plagueis on 12 March 2009 User Comment Submitted by null on 10 March 2009
parts of this look wired, others look handmade...
even if it was wired, I dare to bet that there was some actual effort put into touching the pic up and making it look good... unlike one of my attempts... (although it was rushed... and fyi: I mean the foxgirl pic) | User Comment Submitted by Matt on 10 March 2009
I'm with doc on this, totally.
Nice picture btw. | User Comment Submitted by Deev on 10 March 2009
d0c: Don't go around suggesting you've been beaten down just for releasing a c64 graphic. "you nearly need an attorney for defence to make a c64 picture now days..." is ridiculous, most people here would encourage someone trying to learn how to do something on the C64 and give advice if you asked for it, the problem here is that it looks as though you didn't try to pixel, you just wired something and passed it off as your own. If this isn't true, just upload your workstages. I get tired of wiring accusations flying around, but with so many tools available these days that make the creation of C64 graphics take seconds, it's going to happen... | User Comment Submitted by Twoflower on 10 March 2009
Ah, come on guys. Wiring has its qualities, saving time and learning are two of them. I rather like the aestethics of this, very much 70'ies horror-comic. I believe this might be made for the text-adventure with the same name.
But you should always use the weapon of choice which fits the image. Koala isn't really optimal for this, is it? Perhaps MCI or hires? | User Comment Submitted by Sander on 10 March 2009
Well, do it integer then. Be honest on used resources and references, that would have saved you from this.
Still, i doubt you pixelled too much on this yourself, just by looking at the logo, that's such an obvious convert - while you claim you've pixelled it yourself. But feel free to prove me wrong by showing some workstages. | User Comment Submitted by Mace on 10 March 2009
You are absolutely right, d0c.
Keep them coming! :) | User Comment Submitted by d0c on 10 March 2009
i decided not to comment my releases but i make one exception for this. first of all this is NOT a compo picture. this is my own creation and my intention have not been to hide anything, the vampire guy is used as an inspiration and are easly googled, as one of you found it allready. this picture is made in koala paint with its limitations. the idea and composing of the picture was more important than making something new...
one thing is for sure i have made something and contributed to the scene and the great c64, while some of you have just done nothing, but siting around and complaint. the really sad part is that you nearly need an attorney for defence to make a c64 picture now days...
anyway i am still gonna keep on making graphics and release it here at csdb, if you guys like it or not. i do this for fun, experimenting and love for the c64 after all... | User Comment Submitted by daison on 10 March 2009 User Comment Submitted by JackAsser on 10 March 2009
@daison: A wire job is always bad if the author doesn't mention the origano in the production notes. Kinda the same as ripping a text w/o telling the source. It's called plagiarism! | User Comment Submitted by daison on 10 March 2009
Is it that bad for non-compo-pictures to be wired? | User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 10 March 2009
Quoting DeekayDidn't someone else make a c64 version of that pic already? I remember this guy standing on some badly drawn stones...
Deekay, your picture-finding fu is weak: Compo Picture
Oh by the way, since I'm still in Oswald-mode: tags would make these kind of searches super-easy. | User Comment Submitted by Sander on 10 March 2009
Yeah.. looks like a wirejob.
Eventhough if the pic looks okay-ish, D0C didn't add anything of value to it other than his signature. (i'm pretty sure there's an original image for this one, looking at the antialiasing of the title) Which suggests he pixelled the picture. (especially by not pointing out otherwise.)
Looking at D0C's 'oeuvre' and his recent rambling over Timanthes - i cannot conclude other than what Scout said. | User Comment Submitted by Majikeyric on 10 March 2009
Even if it is a conversion. It's a nice pic. Why negate the effort and work done? | User Comment Submitted by Frantic on 10 March 2009 User Comment Submitted by DeeKay on 10 March 2009

However, I have to disagree, I don't see anything that screams "conversion" here, even though it could ofcourse be one... | User Comment Submitted by Raffox|HF on 10 March 2009 User Comment Submitted by Mace on 10 March 2009
This looks like a reworked conversion of this picture, but I don't mind that.
It needs more work, though... especially the face and the backside of the cross are too speckled. | User Comment Submitted by Scout on 10 March 2009
The Lamers With Convertertools are back!
Well done d0c! You finally got your title in the scene: LAMER! | User Comment Submitted by Majikeyric on 10 March 2009
Nice picture but it seems to be a digitized/converted picture that have been reworked. | User Comment Submitted by Motion on 10 March 2009
I love it! Has an early 80's Compunet vibe to it... | User Comment Submitted by dflame on 10 March 2009 User Comment Submitted by grennouille on 9 March 2009
I love the idea of making loading screens for games that have not had before! (bad english...) | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 9 March 2009
