Got this working like a charm with Notepad++ and NppExec plugin. Runs KickAsm in first pass (custom command, specify own params), console output inside Notepad++, then runs KickVice. Works like a charm! Thanks Panta! | User Comment Submitted by Pantaloon on 22 August 2010
there you have a small summary of the tool. | User Comment Submitted by Jak T Rip on 22 August 2010
I hate this: why don't you put one line of text here explaining what this thing is? This should be standard for all tools uploaded. | User Comment Submitted by daison on 17 August 2010
Thank you so much for this!
Simple but Sweet! :) | User Comment Submitted by Pantaloon on 17 August 2010
what this tool does is to create a windows drag'n drop event of the actual .PRG to an existing Vice window. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 17 August 2010
infact one of the problems is telnet itself. it works better with netcat (or anything that doesnt "speak telnet") | User Comment Submitted by Count Zero on 17 August 2010
remotemonitor is somewhat buggy and heavily delays here on a local connection even. However it basically works and for ram injection should be usable:
# telnet localhost 6510
Trying ::1...
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
** Monitor 000 000
(C:$0216) (C:$0216)
(C:$0216) m 1000
>C:1000 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
>C:1010 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
Just make sure to pass a few LF or CR or whatever you regard as <enter> as in the beginning it acts a little cocky. Platform is said to be no issue the last discussion on irc yielded.
PS: regarding that "tool" release here - even some batch file or whatever script can manage such things whenever you dont go the _real_ way and "make" your stuff, no? | User Comment Submitted by Mr. SID on 17 August 2010
That's what I thought too... | User Comment Submitted by Frantic on 17 August 2010
@MrSid: A CR/LF vs LF issue perhaps? (Just a guess.. I haven't even tried this feature.) | User Comment Submitted by Mr. SID on 17 August 2010
I tried it a couple of times, but I usually get problems like this:
(C:$e5d4) m 1000
ERROR -- Unexpected token:
m 1000

i never got the remote monitor to work on windows. every now and then it freezes aswell. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 17 August 2010
it should work regardless of OS.
1) run vice "x64 -remotemonitor -remotemonitoraddress ip4://:6510"
2) connect using telnet or netcat and pipe in whatever commands. | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 17 August 2010
which I dont find in the docs, and the first time I heard about it, the guy also said it only works in linux (?) :-/ | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 17 August 2010
that you could do with the netmon feature of vice, and netcat in the makefile =P | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 17 August 2010
I thought it injects the prg directly into an already running vice (?) :-/ | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 17 August 2010
or you could put in your makefile:
test: bladisk.d64
killall x64 ; x64 bladisk.d64

Slammer: Indeed it works like hell. 10/10 for this one pantsy! | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 14 August 2010
make it please transparent, so people not using kickasm can also benefit from it. | User Comment Submitted by Slammer on 14 August 2010
TWW: Try putting your standard libraries in the kickass.cfg file, I guess that will do the trick. I'm only on mac at the moment, so i can't try it out (still no development computer)
Pantaloon: I like the exclusive mode idea. Closing the Vice Windows every time is a good thing to get rid of. If this project project turn out good I guess I will drop the exe support. | User Comment Submitted by TWW on 14 August 2010
Looks promissing!
However without the possibility to pass parameters to KickAssembler it is a bit limited. (can't pass default library location (-libdir) f.ex). Awaiting V2 :)
Could I has its on monday? (hehe)
ps. still waiting for this possibility to be documented/implemented natively in Vice though ;) |
