West Virginia-based, local/amateur cracking group serving the Ohio Valley, US (Tri-State area). We met on the local BBS scene which was extremely PC and Mac-heavy.
We played make-believe cracking group with freeze carts and intro makers for a couple of years, gradually gaining real experience, getting into phreaking and the usual stuff. We were kids (I was 11 when I joined, Blessed Death was 12 I think, the others were a little older) so we didnt fully comprehend how lame we were and most of the locals we catered to either didnt understand what we were doing or didnt care.
BD was the only one who knew any ML at all at first. I eventually could feel my way around an assembler, rip routines and link intros but I was a lot more interested in other people's releases. The rest of the group was mostly organizing, swapping, supplying and cheerleading.
The Hellion was the last to join the group and had real coding experience that he shared with us. He was also an actual adult. This was the beginning of the end of USP, as it was dawning on us how lame we were and Blessed Death (who quickly became Streetkiller) wasnt suited any longer to be in a local lamer group.
We met more national sceners and USP was ditched. Multiple groups sprang out of this: Advanced Software Piracy and The G-Force being the most notable, who shared some members and were friendly with each other. ASP had a couple of out of state members but was still pretty "local" at first and ended up being another stepping stone before Streetkiller really hit it big with Shade. By that time everyone else had Amigas (or PCs, yuck) and there wasnt much of a local 64 scene to speak of.
What's here is what I was able to recover from my own partially drowned disk collection.
