This, like the previous versions, still crashes when I try to navigate a network (samba) volume. Is a fix possible?

Or can anybody recommend a better Windows solution?

I miss the mixer (being able to listen to a channel individually helped for tune analysis a lot) but this is still a fantastic player? Are there going to be any more updates?

Humm I used SidPlay2 on my old PC but with this one on my new PC I can't get any sound even though my detected sound card is selected. SID plugin for XMPlay worked right away, using that until I know what's up.

Anyone know where I can download this resid patches so I can create a sidplay2 build for my Linux system?

I noticed that this one plays high pass filtered sounds at very low volume, I kept wondering and wondering what I did wrong with SID-Wizard until I finally tested with another version.
Who would've thought of that! lol

So now I'm going back to an older version, aswell.

I went back to 2.5. This version is messing up too much SIDs I like to listen to. I hope an update will soon. Probably not :)

Also, has anyone ever given though to update the UI? This thing is ancient, and the playlist GUI is terrible.

I am having problems playing Martin Galway's "Wizball" main tune especially. The lead voice keeps changing volume. I've played with the filter settings but cannot get rid of it. Any tips??

ian: i know ,i ment mixer btw not stereo.

i just took another look at this ,is it me or does every tune play in mono even when stereo is turned on or is it just very poor stereo support

even with headphones it still sounds mono or only 'just' stereo when stereo is on , also no way to change filter?.

i also noticed it didnt play some old tunes one that springs to mind is paper boy.

http://hvsc.perff.dk/MUSICIANS/C/Cooksey_Mark/Paperboy.sid

and it thinks some tunes are ntsc when they arent is that normal?

it probably needs updating to the latest residfp and libsidplayfp like this one has been.

What NecroPolo said :D only that it wasn't not knowing but mere laziness. Listening mostly on real hw I didn't care too much about PC player as long as it mostly works. But finally I also overcame my laziness and updated my June 2005 version :) Was really worth it! Great features! Thanks a lot!

PS: And pllleease leave the looks/interface as simple, plain and clear as it is. Everyting which I can make look like Win98 on my screen makes me sooo happy. Let's not be jealous on colorful huppyfluppy stuff of other systems pimps, this is about music, not visual pr0n ;)

It doesn't seem to work for me. Ok, if I'm lucky some kind soul will make a proper .sid out of Hexadecimal [2sid] then. :)

I think $d420, $de00, and $df00 are more common in actual 2sid hardware. At least in more recent day 2sid hardware. Not sure for older 2sid hardware though. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

(The latter two adresses may of course conflict with common carts, but everyone knows that...)

@Dane: $D500 is fine. In the header of the SID file you can specify the address of the second SID chip. See the SID file format specification.
You can write $50 at offset $007A in the SID header to specify $D500. Make sure you set the SID file header version to $0003.

Trying to make my first 2SID...so what adress does this version recognise as the second chip? (In my player I used D500, but that can be fixed I suppose)

Could you guys please make a new skin for Sidplay2/w? I saw this Linux player XMMS-SID and I get a bit jealous! :)

Nice work Inge!

@Jammer, it's not filter saturation on 8580, it's signal overdrive bug :) And yes, it's not emulated.

Finally, my favourite SID player which now supports 2SIDs, including mono-ouput playback! \o/

One little bug I noticed... after you select "mono" on playback settings, and then you select another .sid, it resets to "stereo" again. Not a biggie though.

Anyway, thanks guys for the great work!

sidplay2w.exe uses resampling (a bit more heavy on the CPU)
sidplay2w-int.exe uses interpolation (less CPU intensive)

What is the difference between the two .exe's sidplay2w.exe and sidplay2w_int.exe?

Already in use here :D I see that PolyTracker bugs have been fixed, splendid. Booker told me recently about 8580's feature that hasn't been emulated so far. Precisely, SID starts to saturate and choke by the lowest cutoff. I remember having been really upset hearing my Galaxy Bounce recorded from real thing and thought - WTF? Actually, that's a nice example of this phenomenon.

Is it just me, or does this one sound ALOT better than 2.5? Keep up the good work.

This is not the final version but works. There are some bugs but nothing that compromises normal usage. Should have been released at LCP 2011 but time isn't always available when you need it.
Inge agreed to release this version anyway, must keep ppl happy until the final debug is done.
