Hardly any ATA crack without some drama as it seems, but much drama about nothing again imho.
Agreed: There've been better games cracked, even in 2012. However, nobody asks how all those old games recently dug out, cracked and released by the still active groups were made. And besides some really good stuff, there's also a lot crap among'em. For me cracked crap is old news since the 80s, nothing to frown upon too seriously.
Somehow it's a clone of half a dozen games. Nevertheless I think this one's far from really good but rather playable stuff (though there are a little too many easy levels before it gets halfways challenging). If some really nasty bugs were fixed, it was worth the effort imho. And though I'm everything but a S(E)UCK fan, I even know some SEUCK-made trashy games which I'd like a bugfix or PAL-fix of... :) | User Comment Submitted by The Shadow on 29 February 2012
This original game does appear to have been built using a game maker. Interesting that it made it to mainstream by disk magazine. There is evidence within the code of the original that this game was heavily modified after it was created. It came with serious bugs and tamper resistant code that needed to be cracked.
Regardless of the engine used to create the game or the misuse of the letter 'E' within this release, I would much rather release this polished and gold plated piece of fecal matter than to never have released anything on the 20th anniversary. Look at all the controversy this release has provoked :) This 20th Anniversary party has been a blast!
The title screen that Grass made is a beautiful work of art!
The efforts of Iceout outweigh any flaws within this release. This original game had two huge bugs. Iceout is the doctor who fixed this patient. | User Comment Submitted by Rough on 29 February 2012
Sorry, Andy, Zyron is right, Astroids definately is a Garry Kitchen Game Maker game. Like mentioned it contains the usual Game Maker grey box with blue text screen, which not only is seen at start but can also be put on screen by pressing [Space].
And of course Game Maker games could contain bugs, Game Maker is far more advanced than SEUCK, which is more like a Game-to-Go construction kit, while Game Maker includes an own game-developing programming language (iirc it's a BASIC variant).
No surprise there are way more SEUCK-made games than Game Maker ones. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 29 February 2012
"a game built with a game maker system would not contain serious bugs"
by "interesting theory" you ment this, right? afterall SEUCK games do not have a broken multiplexer at all! | User Comment Submitted by Zyron on 29 February 2012

It's not just a theory, it's a fact. F ex the usual title screen (which you happened to leave out in the gif animation) with the shaded light grey box on dark grey background and light blue lower case text is the typical GameMaker trademark. | User Comment Submitted by The Shadow on 29 February 2012
If this release feels rushed, that is because it is. I had insisted upon this release being ready for the 20th anniversary. The game itself is of poor quality but be certain someone will gain plenty of pleasure playing this.

Fantastic! Wired title screen and Gamemaker crapola for a 20th anniversary release! Excellent work! | User Comment Submitted by Rough on 27 February 2012
You are right, Paul, it is Dinosaurs-like humor. How did you recognize this so quick?
btw: I see a Grass picture collection coming up, | User Comment Submitted by enthusi on 27 February 2012 User Comment Submitted by Paul Bearer on 27 February 2012
Surely training this and especially drawing such a nice picture took a lot of time... how is it even possible to write the game's name wrong(in the intro scroller and the title pic), I don't get it. Or is this some Dinasours-like humor? | User Comment Submitted by Celtic on 26 February 2012
First: congratulations to Avatar.
Second: A suggestion towards Grass. I really like all these pics you have made for the Avatar cracks, but i think a lot more people will notice them if you release a seperate pic. I myself of skip or do not properly check cracks, so i just releasised i missed many of your new gfx. I am sure others will too. | User Comment Submitted by The Ignorance on 26 February 2012
Is there a reason why the picture shows another name than the game itself? :) | User Comment Submitted by Broti on 25 February 2012
Nice release and happy 20th anniversary |
