Fred: OK! Thanks for the info! | User Comment Submitted by Fred on 7 March 2013
@Yogibear: the reason why ACID64 plays the MUS/STR tunes at a higher pitch is that the default for playing MUS/STR files is at NTSC clock speed since most Sidplayer tunes are made for NTSC. You can change this behavior in the preferences in the Playback tab (MUS-file default frequency setting) so that MUS files always play at PAL speed. Unfortunately the information for which C64 machine the tune is made on is not in the MUS file.
You can also temporary change the clock while the tune plays by pressing CTRL-P (for PAL) or CTRL-N (for NTSC) or click on the status bar at the clock indicator. | User Comment Submitted by Dano on 7 March 2013
now if there just was a decent sid usb device that works with win7/64bit flawlessly without installing any debug drivers/hacks/tweaks.. | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 7 March 2013
I noticed when comparing:
/CGSC/Gene/Chariots_of_Fire.str
on Sidplay2/w win32 version 2.6 and this player that ACID plays everything a half note higher.
Also with (e.g.):
D:/CGSC/DC_Star_and_Cpr/St_Elsewhere.str
How come? | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 7 March 2013
Damn! Now you said it I remember I saw that earlier! Well you live and learn! Please forgive me! | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 6 March 2013
just for your information, Sidplay2/w always supported str files =) | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 6 March 2013
Ah great update! Finally I listened to the http://www.c64music.co.uk/ stereo SIDs. Well some of them as there are so many. Has some nice tunes like Chariots of Fire (by Gene), Whole New World, Englshman in New York, St Elsewhere etc. And a lot crappy ones! Just play the str files. | User Comment Submitted by Mr.Ammo on 6 March 2013
"Second SID device settings for HardSID 4U and HardSID Quattro devices are now stored correctly"
Great!!
Still a bugger that this software is windows only ;) Luckily VirtualBox with a Windows VM solved this problem. |
