BOB - you know what it is still one of my fav. demos also... I really like the phase in this demo it is always something new... your demo from this party too... I actually think these two demos are among the very best ever created on the c64 and that you also think so meen so much to me personally. Thanx and also let me just say that demos will come and there will be better ones than the ones released so far on the c64!

Excellent stuff guys!

I'm amused! I'm inspired! I'm also deeply impressed! And... blown away to see how your skills, creativity and playfullness all come together in this and other Offence productions.
It's so polished! It's so stylish! It's so cool and so perfectly executed! Almost like watching a good movie. I remember the old days, you were excellent then and you certainly haven't lost the touch
of producing original and inspiring demos... twenty years later!

Great work!

Is anyone running this on Vice ?

I'm trying to run it with Vice 2.2 on Win XP, all I get is a reddish brown screen.

The machine code monitor shows the program just looping at :

(C:$58c3) d 58c3
.C:58c3 4C C3 58 JMP $58C3

Nice gfx, pics and some cool effects. The Terminator intro put a smile on my face, kinda hoped the first few things would be more about that film. The toroid and flip disk side floppy stand out for me.

X2014 - Censor - this time we will come prepared - as the rest of the scene will too... this time we have time for life alongside, not make a demo in two months plus... what will you do when the real true and not one third Offence-o-mania runs wild on you?

Well, about time I made some comment here.

I have discussed this and the new Wonderland demo with several people and together with my impression my view on Scrollwars is that it is the superior of the two demos.

The main reason is the design. Second reason is the music. These two reasons make it the better demo, whereas the code is high quality and is about even with the Censor demo.

That aside, this is all personal views and maybe in some time, my opinions will change a bit and I will like the Censor demo more than Scrollwars.

Great battle guys! Thumbs up for the entertainment! Keep the spirit alive!

For X2014 I have had a dream, the dream was to really make the best demo I could ever give my effort into! So maybe we will make a demo for X2014 or several demos or maybe no demo at all...only time will show. This demo, Scrollwars, is to me a fantastic demo and show that with determination and will one can do perhaps a great thing in even a small time frame. It is for me not about holding the best demo, it is not about creating the most to sell to all, pleaser or cool design that one know that everyone is so fond of. It is about friendship, like using so much time to create a proper greeting to new members and "foes"...it is about humans, members of the scene, for me that is the most important thing and I really hope you all feel that in our demo and get inspired by it.

Thanx to all that contributed on Scrollwars, I am very proud and greatful for your efforts! Massive thanx to Kristian for the wonderful cellphone filmer break idea!

Thanx to BOB of Censor for challenging us, thanx to the whole of Censor for creating such a fantastic demo as they did!

And by the way, I think we should have won! tjihi!

Yeah, you guys made that thrilla in Helsingborg exiting until the last minute.

Perhaps this demo is not as massive as Trick and Treat. But I still enjoy watching it. It feels as if you increased the pace compared to your older productions.

And that turn disk part looks absolutely fab. I guess its "animated" but with quality and style.

So, lets head to the next thrilla in Someren. I heard some rumours there will be a third competitor for it. ;o)

Two 3 siders in one compo!??!

This one really looks fresh, I loved the fantastic logo screens with the colour bars in the back the most, and you really caught me here: just a couple days before I watched this I wondered if drawing different sized balls could be a fast way of generating gfx and then I see those wonderful turn disk parts from here... are they just anims or how did you do them? They look ultrasmooth and I just love them.

What a nicely balanced demo, among your best to me since your comeback. It took me 20 minutes to flip the disk at the end of side 2, the music is too good to interrupt it. :)

You can never please everybody. Wonderland XII also got four votes of 7, which I would really like to see the reasoning behind. Not to mention two votes of 6 for Coma Light 13, and ditto for Edge of Disgrace. All of these votes are anonymous. Since most if not all of the top rated productions got them, I guess they don't count all that much towards the rank in the top lists in the end.

It would as you say be helpful to get some real feedback with such votes, but the best way I think is to just forget the votes altogether and read the comments from those who care enough to leave one, be it positive or negative - and if the latter, hopefully constructive in some way.

Speaking of which - thanks a lot to all of you who did or are going to leave a comment. It is really appreciated!

Submitted by TheRyk on 5 August 2013
gotta live with that, 6 without any explanation ain't fair at all, but still not serious downvoting. as soon as you even start discussing that kinda crap, be sure to make "f(r)iends" with some real downvoters (not always anonymous) ^^ shitting you 1s in each releae, but I agree the public bar (great approach) should be enough, at least it helps you know your enemies (just kidding, the whole vote stuff in the end is just some kind of joke, preventing you from more productive matters such as coding/pixeling/composing, so don't take it too seriously)
User Comment
Submitted by Scarzix on 5 August 2013
I wish I knew why people can vote anonymously? I dont mind that people dont like our production, but I would have loved to get some feedback from the ONE PERSON who decided to vote 6 for our demo as it sure does make the statistics jump a little, doesnt it?

If I count the votes without that single vote, its 9.7 in total...

better design than in wonderland, but not as many ass kicker parts, still i feel my ass handed to me, esp. the twisting torus was cool, and the opening fullscreen 2 xor-ed scrollr (will have to peek how you did that!!:).

This demo is extremely well designed in my eyes, has a constant good mood in the music that fits to what is going on on the screen. A few jawdroping effects, perhaps too few for a coder like me, but still top notch!! + what Sixx said.

The best FLT + Offence demo, i don't agree with Groepaz about the pace, i think it's bloody perfect. Humour, great code and fantastic art and music. My second favorite demo, not only from the compo but overall. 10/10.

@Didi - there is wiklund who is not an offence member :)

this is a really nice demo - and i had a great time watching it on the big screen. i am happy that both our groups did not just talk about the thrilla in helsingborg - but also have delivered.

it was great meeting and talking to you guys, and hope you are ready for another showdown somewhere else :-)

This is absolutely a great demo. Respect for this work! However imho to make an EoD killer demo the 'WOW' code/routines should dominate the demo and the gfx/design should absolutely be top notch to support the code and routines. There is just to much gfx and to less routines in an Offence demo. (but damn! what a great gfx there are) Anyway try to find the balance for X2014 :-)
Keep me coming!

I totally did enjoy Scrollwars! The demo has touched me emotionally in a positive and sometimes sad way. The music and messages are great.
I love harmonic music aswell as electro-cyberpunk stuff like in our Cyberpunk music-collection(This TheRyk, is why I can not only stick to Industrial Cyberpunk Music).
The graphic are great, too. About the coding effects, I really did enjoy them and I guess they damn hard to do.

I absolutely love this demo. I think you Offence guys got it just right - and I'm going to spell this out: THE LENGTH IS PERFECT. Fantastic graphics, Pål you just outdid yourself - it's massive! Code is very fresh, music superb. Imo this demo also has that magic touch, a commercial appeal that few demos have: it can be shown outside the scene. To put it short - your mother would like it! Congratz to everyone involved, what a great contribution to the scene!

Beautiful, especially the music, cute and funny gfx and decently coded effects.

Really hard to judge which of the main showdown rivals did better, I think both Censor and you guys deserve a 10, considering the summer heat :)
