Also, as footnote, I never really cared much about the compo, the rules or how it sounds on 6581 vs 8580. The song was conposed rather quickly in Goattracker with 8580, and never was ment to be played on 6581. Because I didnt care to adjust filters for that sid chip and to be honest for a song to really work on both chips it is imo best to avoid filters all together. For this song, use of filters was essential therefore I already knew it would sound bad on 6581. Nevertheless, the song wasn't ment to do great in the compo; it was merely a play on the unit 5 theme I wanted to achieve. Can someone please put up the links with the koalapic now? Thanks ;) | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 8 November 2017
FINALLY someone spotted that connection, which was the pure purpose of the whole idea of entering the song. I listened to LFTs take on the fairlight theme and thought the absolutely best cracktro to start off from as a theme would be the In my opinion best cracktro ever made on the Amiga. Also maybe because I also loved the flightsim game they had that Scandal...Scandal intreguing scroller with that amazing song. So, yes. It was on intension and I would say first price goes to you for noticing ;) cheers! | User Comment Submitted by Stainless Steel on 31 October 2017
Reminds me a lot of an old Amiga unit5.mod is that on purpose ? | User Comment Submitted by psych on 29 October 2017
Filtering overused. Bassline is cool tho. | User Comment Submitted by Hein on 29 October 2017
The pumping bass is cool on 6581. The melody line gets swallowed, unfortunately. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 19 October 2017
Magnar: there is a field for youtube links! :) | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 19 October 2017 User Comment Submitted by Slator on 5 October 2017
sounds alittle noisy somehow but still composition fits awesomely into an intro. wish the melody from the last part would be longer... damn 1 Minute ending | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 5 October 2017
Those who actually downloaded the early version with the koala picture might wanna hold on that in case it gets some value someday. Only approx 10 downloads, very small "product serie". I will sign them if provided on floppies. Hahaha! The drama is strong on csdb ;) now go flame | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 5 October 2017
Tune is nice but sounds a bit messy filterwise (as probably majority of your tunes recently - no idea why you set cutoffs up this way :P) | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 5 October 2017
Uploading actual screenshot. | User Comment Submitted by Pantaloon on 5 October 2017 User Comment Submitted by Technotron on 5 October 2017
Judges may do what they want but I like this tune. | User Comment Submitted by Mr.Ammo on 5 October 2017
Too bad, I find that it does not sound good on the 6581 SID. The lead gets very faint because of the distortion. Still quite a good tune, I like it. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 5 October 2017
I'm not responsible for others' actions and I know how I vote myself :P | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 4 October 2017
"People judge on music anyway." no namevoting or vote-pushing from groupmates? if only :=) | User Comment Submitted by Smasher on 4 October 2017 User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 4 October 2017
I'd skip that rule TBH. People judge on music anyway. I guess Didi pasted it from 2013 just like that :) FYI, I've removed my trademark stripes in player to comply regardless :P | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 4 October 2017
IAN, that music Viewer has a color-scrolling line around the text making it a intro-like presentation. All entries should be disqualified using it. :) | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 4 October 2017
The ONLY way this would have been fair for everyone was if the compo organizers actually made a Music Viewer prg file, which the Music had to use! So all songs have same Viewer with same format.
Or - The rule should be modified to only blank screens are allowed by using d011, or only black screens are allowed etc. No text, no graphic, only a prg file that plays the Music with vic off or black d020+d021. | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 4 October 2017
a psid64 prg is more than enough, let's move along. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 4 October 2017
even more silly rule: an entry on csdb must contain a runable file, .sid only does not comply =)
and totally insane silly rule: you can't retroactively unrelease, so removing files from entries that were already released also does not comply :)
oooh the joys of abusing csdb for compos =) | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 4 October 2017
Apparently, it is OK to only deliver in .sid file according to rules. So I simply took away the D64 file containing the program with the koala. I will upload and release it again after the voting deadline to obey the rules. Silly rule. | User Comment Submitted by Magnar on 4 October 2017
Really? I just used my standard Music Viewer that Always have a koala still Picture in it. Ok, I will remove that then... Blaeh!
I watched Mermaid's entry and Jammer's Before I made my entry, and they both actually have those elements in their presentations. Jammer has a 2x1 graphical font, Mermaid has ROM font but it is animated to player data etc, which is kinda effect. So one thing is allowed, the other is not? :) | User Comment Submitted by Shine on 4 October 2017
I really like your song, BUT
"- no graphics or even intro-like presentation is allowed to be included." |
