Indeed, which is why this tool now exists ;-). The Ultimate cannot use binary images of Flash and EEPROM directly. Only in a crt.

Umm. Isn't Gmod2 already supported by the ultimate since the latest firmware?

Funny enough, this isnt the first version of broken gmod2 crt - that WinVICE hack does it slightly different (using bank 64 for the eeprom iirc, which is equally wrong as using $de00 for its load address)

I have to leave that discussion to the Ultimate firmware maintainers, I only wrote a tool that fits to their firmware :-)

*sigh* that will be fun once we implement the format and ppl start complaining :) how hard is it to just check back to the maintainers of the format so it can be done correctly from the start.... (the guy who added the C128 carts actually managed to do this. oh well.)

They work today on the Ultimate 64 as well as the 1541 U2 (plus). As far as I know this is the only way to have full GMod2 support on these devices.

Interesting.... the readme should perhaps tell that the .crt format does not support embedding the eeprom, so this is a hack that works with... whatever (certainly not VICE). Moreso, the way the eeprom was added isnt quite how it should be done - so even if the format will some day support embedding the eeprom, it wont be done like this. I hope you aren't planning to release official .crt files in this borken format - and I wonder what the files even work with :)
