| If you look at the output with a spectrum analyzer, there is a clear peak at 13877Hz - which indeed is just high enough that some of us will no more hear it. Younger folks will certainly hear - and hate - it :) |

Yeah, I'm definitely hearing the high pitch tone. I don't get it through the TV .. but if I plug headphones in, it's there .. and it's definitely off-putting.
Sorry.. without the high pitch it all sounds fantastic. |

| I can confirm as well that yt recording also gives off strong high pitched tone. No bat hearing needed for this ;) If you need comparison - somewhere around fastest dentist drill tones :D |

I look forward to listening again when I am older (as it is, I can already happily share a room with my old 1084 that seems silent to me, but makes my young niece and nephew flee the room with their hands over their ears). |

If the 'smart attach' doesn't work for you, you can try to set your VICE configuration to the factory settings.
GTK3VICE 3.5, 3.6.1, 3.7.1 and 3.8 works but are a little noisy. |

What's the meaning of "don't start" in the summaries? It doesn't work for you? or "don't you dare starting it"? =)
It works ok in GTKVice 3.8 here, with smart attach, both 6581 adn 8580. Even less noisy than in Vice 3.2 for me. |
