"alz64.zip" added, source code now compilable under GCC.
And I add the "0x" notation for hex values, because it is easier to handle in makefiles than "$"

Found the C++ source code (thought it was lost). Uploaded for anyone who's interested. | User Comment Submitted by MagerValp on 14 April 2009
That cleared up everything, thanks!

As there seems to be some confusion I've written a little manual (click on "Summary" in the right column). | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 14 April 2009
rtfmn00b!
-e and -1 are the options you need to READ and understand.
Anyway after depacking, all mem $0000-$07ff is thrashed, you need to set your ZP/vectors in your programs, if you need them. Normally a jsr $fd50/jsr$fd15 should do. | User Comment Submitted by Richard on 14 April 2009
I don't understand this tool. It does pack better to Exomizer, but after depacking, it crashes!
How do I pack a whole program with this, where I specify the actual jump address? | User Comment Submitted by Ninja on 14 April 2009
Skate: Can you compare also to Exomizer 1.1.5 and 2.0beta?
Magervalp: Exo4K-Decruncher is not really a specialized packer, but has also helped small productions. | User Comment Submitted by Skate on 14 April 2009
My Test Results:
Original PRG file (a demo part with unrolled code, graphics and music):
62177 bytes
Pucrunch:
Packed Size: 8483 bytes
Depack Duration: ~4 sec.
ALZ64:
Packed Size: 7009 bytes
Depack Duration: ~20 sec.
This tool can be useful in some special cases.

Interesting, I think this is the first packer aimed at small executables since XIP. An explanation of arithmetic hints and what they're good for would be nice though.

I added the description to Summary.... it was "hidden" in the 'Scrolltext and other text in this release' part of the entry.
It's a packer, by the way. | User Comment Submitted by d0c on 13 April 2009
what tool is this? what its purpose? | User Comment Submitted by Kabuto on 13 April 2009
Originally released together with Surveillance 1964; split up into 2 separate releases in accordance with advice from the mods |
