As before, great pixelwork right there! I gotta second the people asking for these works of pixelart to be put into a proper Demo! ;-) | User Comment Submitted by Exploding First on 14 October 2010
Multi-Color proficiency!!! | User Comment Submitted by Motion on 12 October 2010
STE'86: No one can accuse you of not being able to take a hint! ;) Looks great.
| User Comment Submitted by STE'86 on 11 October 2010
yeah like i said to start with i am not totally convinced by this style. it has grown on me a bit. and looking at it, the concept is very early 80s, wide collars huge shoulders and hair set into solid backcombed waves with shitloads of hair laquer :) | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 11 October 2010
I kinda like that better... | User Comment Submitted by Rough on 11 October 2010
without the medal it's got something like "hair from a cat" 8) | User Comment Submitted by STE'86 on 11 October 2010
ok there is an updated one with no medal showing so u can choose whichever floats your boat :) | User Comment Submitted by Joe on 11 October 2010
Great! Love the long lines and the offset cut screen.
Keep up the stamina!
Would love to caress those white lines against those purples and make them just as smooth as the beauty portrayed.
Making that antialias just as the spectators gloomy memory of what was. For what memory one could have, true or false
with that immense truth...

Wow, was my first thought and second was brilliantly simple. Looks darn good. | User Comment Submitted by Exploding First on 11 October 2010
Excellent!!! And all in Multi Color. Amazing!!! | User Comment Submitted by STE'86 on 11 October 2010
TBH i think Steve Thompson probably is. but i can match him i think on a good day :)
oh and due to Motion's "passive aggressive" pressure i am looking at removing the bit of the medal :) will post an additional update when done

just love it your the best ste'86 :-) | User Comment Submitted by Motion on 11 October 2010
Another great piece, Steve. Love the colours. Shame about the medal, but hey, you didn't know! ;) | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 10 October 2010
That is all ok by me, and you are right as I say in my post the downloadable file do look different. When I see it on my big movie film wall and on my lcd and on my crt from old and new machines and also from vice on laptop it looks different and in my mind even greater, that was my point only. We are therefor both right... keep on the pipeline you have, it sure works good... | User Comment Submitted by Yazoo on 10 October 2010
nice one. i especially like the eyes, nose and lips | User Comment Submitted by STE'86 on 10 October 2010
no mate sorry i won't cap from vice with the pepto palette. this is the palette i use to draw with in photoshop. the pepto palette in its default state is far too dull on my crt monitor. and bears no resemblance to my old c64 monitor whose colour was always well up and contrast high. it's my preference that i cap it like i draw it. and whoever downloads it can watch it in whatever manner they like in the same way that in the old days everyones colour and contrast settings were set to their own preference. not being funny. just explaining my practice :) | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 10 October 2010
Very nice. I never saw this one in the past, a splendid image.
I find your screenshots to be very bright and saturated while the prg both in vise and on the real thing look better. Can you create screenshots with another palette in the future I think it will make your images look beter also on-line. Just a sugestion from me that is. | User Comment Submitted by Jazzcat on 10 October 2010
Beautiful, particularly like the detail around the hair and the eyes! Thumbs up. | User Comment Submitted by Rough on 10 October 2010
Pretty nice. Liked the old 2000AD style better as well, it was more dark and mysterious. | User Comment Submitted by STE'86 on 10 October 2010
in all honesty, i had no idea it WAS a medal until i googled to find a link for the source :) the one i used was hacked off very slightly above where mine ends and i came across it by accident :) still it adds a bit of visual interest and more to the point saves me from having to do another mind bending strip of attribute clash ridden hair :) | User Comment Submitted by Sander on 10 October 2010
Looks great! Maybe i'd prefer it without the cut-off medal in the top left and some colouring could be more fluent perhaps.
Otherwise a great conversion. Hope JCB will wrap these all up in a nice demo or collection someday :) | User Comment Submitted by Mace on 10 October 2010
I love it.
This is how C64 gfx should look like, conservative as I am ;-) | User Comment Submitted by STE'86 on 10 October 2010
apologies i noticed another damned attribute problem THEN noticed i hadn't signed it in the rush :) and we all know i have to sign! | User Comment Submitted by Cresh on 10 October 2010
Would fap to this 25 years ago. ;) | User Comment Submitted by Sledge on 10 October 2010 User Comment Submitted by STE'86 on 10 October 2010
a late 80s 2000ad c64 rendering. I never liked the strip and i don't really like the artwork, its a bit too manga for my taste. Strange choice then you might think :) but it was because i would never have done this in the 80's that it was done now. It is also one of the hardest ones i have ever done, so many attribute problems to be sorted or worked around and garish colours that cant be reused.
This version of Halo was from when 2000ad changed their style somewhat to try and capture the new manga audience. about the same time i stopped reading it :)
the image was derived from the cover of the graphic novel http://www.2000adonline.com/books/ballad_of_halo_jones.php
another pre manga Halo was done by Ash here Halo Jones |
