I winz \o/

Another lamer defeated! In the end I was correct and your "cute" little response proves it. Nice try to deflect a defeat with some "intraweb-ism" non-sense.

I don't think it's more so a fight now, but more so scene wise. The scene was alot different back then, PAL scene vs NTSC scene was a total opposite. I think where this conversation just fell off at was the point about NTSC in general. If you was not in the NTSC scene around that time I would say it would be very hard to state what was going on then. Unlike a person being in that particular scene during that time. Reading about something and experiencing it is totally different in this case. Also a bunch of stuff created back then is not up here, people like myself with alot of old shit on disks but to lazy to transfer them over.

Oh, Moloch. You so cute. Let's not fight. No need to make this personal. Can we kiss and make up now?

Known NTSC (US and Canada)demos from 1983-Dec. 31, 1988 according to the CSDb: 113

Some are not true NTSC demos, some are imports with a NTSC intros(around ten of them).

Some are not real demos, some are demo maker demos (around 20 of them).

First known NTSC Demo Group (Hey! it's YOUR entry, Moloch!) Impulse, formed August 1988 (Yay! Moloch wins!) releasing seven demos between August of 1988 and December of 1988.

I knew some of those guys were phreakers (or at least code jockeys) which is what we were talking about originally. But I suppose that is no longer the point at this point because we are now involved in an INTERNET FIGHT.

I congratulate you on your hollow victory, Jon. Isn't it great to win fights on the Intarwebz? Your cookie is in the mail.

That comment alone shows you don't have a clue about the groups or sceners you're posting about.

Key word is "notable", Moloch. But you knew that already. :p

US "demo only" groups did exist prior to 1989 ... simply making some widespread claim they didn't without proof doesn't fly here.

Pages is the US term, always has been.

@ninjasbane: i can assure you we called it "demo" and "parts" back in 1986 :) obviously the ntsc dudes didnt call it anything like that by that time, as they were still struggling with their rasterbars =)

Well... Not many NTSC dudes was doing demos prior to that, it wasn't a wide spread thing here. People we're into cracking and importing "games". Demos would come over every so often but not really spread either. If you noticed most NTSC demo groups had people in crack/importing groups also (Venom, Havok, Fantasy, RFO...)

Just the idea was more on importing and cracking back then, as for pages vs parts. All "oldskool" NTSC guys like myself call them pages and not parts. This is due to demos back in those days WAS 1 page LOL!!! So hence "page" stuck!

Those guys were active in 1989 or beyond, well past the time when the terms "demopart" and "pages" had been established memes in the two scenes.

Not really, some of the NTSC demo dudes (The Wanted, Venom etc.) started mail swapping with Europe instead just staying local.

I am hard pressed to think of a notable NTSC group that called themselves exclusively a "demo" group. If a group was afraid of phreaking, their shit stayed local. I'd just write off the difference (page VS demopart) as merely an artifact of two different scenes. Nothing more.

'Pages' was (is?) the common word for NTSC sceners for what Europeans call '(Demo-)Part'. You can see this in every NTSC release between 1987-199?. Why? The source is unknown to me. But I guess as NTSC demo makers weren't that fond of illegal phreaking to be in contact with Europeans as the cracker scene was, they rarely had contact to them and simply came up with their own term.

agree to rough, they are free to call it whatever they like... and nobody should change the name of the release, that's "stupid".

I personally stick to intro...and pages? Never heard of that, it always was called (demo-)parts, hehe :P

anyway, me likes the intro/cracktro, keep it up! (:

Pages? I've always called them that, most NTSC guys do/did. ;)

The point is even if the entire scene would despize the word 'cracktro' completely, the Avatar guys are still free to call their release whatever they like. (sigh)

Simple use of a different set background value to expand the screen, along with a sparse range in the hue makes this very rich.
Although going for the rather dark side of the 90-00:ies aesthetics (rather pale), the graphics makes the screen.

And oh! I guess the term crack+"tro", meaning crack introduction or rather cracked game introduction and so forth, unfolding the cramped language,
could serve any platform really (Even though the terminology comes from other scenes than that of the c64 community)?
Speaking of which, why don't we call our demo-parts "pages", like in that of any old one-filed demonstration?

Eagle Soft Inc. used to quote the hardrock band 'Rush': "..between the proudest words, behind the beauty, cracks appear!"

Why is it that I started the urge to click on a LIKE button on CSDb recently! (please mark there is no 'question mark')

Today we in offence felt the pain that some have within our brotherhood. We felt there were some disturbance in the force of the true scene. We all just meet online and we all agreed we must take action and can not leave the scene all alone... the love fades away.... so for all scene members... we are back to remind you about love and guide you through the hardest of times...

--------
A safe place for you and me
Special bond one cannot see
Wrapped up inside the csdb cocoon
Also known as our moon.

We are all gold
but some are abit unfold
csdb holds us fast
Our bonds are meant to last.

Sometimes a thread break
New ones shape in its wake
csdb make us strong
A special world, where we belong.

As for whoever changed this entry, don't look at me you little cocksucker Daison. Good day lamer.

To the pathetic little asshole who felt obliged to change the name of this release from cracktro to intro...

Listen up you retarded moron: We are perfectly aware of your aversion to the word 'cracktro' in regards to anything related to the c64, and we find it therefore even more funny to call it that. And in the end of the day, it's our release, and we are going to call it whatever the fuck we want it to be called.

The funny thing is, this is *exactly* why this name was chosen, just to annoy the hell out of you even before the cracks in the logo and around the scroller were there. It's funny to see how you keep whining about it, it is therefore also quite obvious who you are.

Get over it dude, it's called "Cracktro" and it's ours to name, not yours.

All in all "Mission Accomplished!" I'd say.
Now it's time for you to take it like a man and quit whining about it. Retard.

using cracks at the scroll area sides is a great idea for a crack intro. :)
