in this case they didn't even bother to set $2d/2e correctly before running the 2nd program, and it relies on those values to unpack.
I checked other cracks using this intro and they all have wrong $2d/2e values set but the linked program, luckily for them, don't use those values so it unpacks anyway.
Rushed releases by people that didn't have a clue what they were doing.
A quick fixed linking to demonstrate the game actually would work if linked with the correct tools is added. Delete it if you want, it's just a proof of concept.

Cases like this could also be caused by excess data at the end of the file (as a result of x-modem download, which always pads the file to full x-modem blocks)

Definately broken at birth due to the intro relocation. Fails in every VICE version, ccs 3.8 and hoxs 1.1, loops inside a kernal call.
Unpacking the linked program it starts normally.

i wonder if this is working at all, for me it's crashing after the intro after depacking
