Very nice job for preserving old games for c64 game lovers | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 19 March 2014
I've actually had this game for over a year, but the very reason for releasing it now is that GB64 was released, with the game added. | User Comment Submitted by Neo-Rio on 19 March 2014
I didn't realize that there was a picture of the tape inside the zip file... in which case this original couldn't be from the Ozisoft release. The Ozisoft release had a black tape with the Ozisoft logo on it. At least, that's the one I dumped for GBv11. | User Comment Submitted by Neo-Rio on 19 March 2014
If the original for this was sourced from GB64 v11 originals, then thank me for the dump. I bust myself sourcing new missing wares for the project. This was an Ozisoft tape release. If you're looking for more "firsts", then look for an original tape dump of "MacMan", and if you want the world record of longest-time-between-original-release-and-first-crack, then try making a disk version of "Wordrace", also a new dump in GB64. ;) | User Comment Submitted by enthusi on 18 March 2014
Nice to see what a Gamebase64 update brings up. | User Comment Submitted by Rough on 18 March 2014
@Uncle K: Thanks for the info. That's similar to Rushware, an important distributor of software in West-Germany in the 80s and 90s, who are hardly known by others. (unlike OziSoft they never released any own-developed software at all) | User Comment Submitted by cadaver on 18 March 2014
This game contains very sweet speedcode for updating the color RAM, already in 1985 :) | User Comment Submitted by Unkle K on 18 March 2014
@Rough & Hedning: Ozisoft were huge in Australia during the mid to late 80's and were probably the most notable C64 games distributor/publisher of that time. They were bought out by Sega in the early 90's, and then again sold off to Infogrames/Atari in the 2000's.
As for the release, interesting find, great job once again GP! | User Comment Submitted by Rough on 18 March 2014
You're probably right too about them being still small in 1985. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 18 March 2014
Rough: You are right. But in -85 they were not that big, if I understand it correct. In 1990 they were biggest in .au , but it seems to be linked to Sega, and not Commodore. Well. Interesting read. Thanx. | User Comment Submitted by Rough on 18 March 2014 User Comment Submitted by dink on 18 March 2014
Thanks guys, this one is really great! | User Comment Submitted by The Gothicman on 18 March 2014
I still wonder where you find all those "forgotten treasures"... Great! :) | User Comment Submitted by Asphodel on 17 March 2014 User Comment Submitted by Sixx on 17 March 2014
Such a badass game, these sort of weird games were only released in the mid 80's. ;) | User Comment Submitted by Doc Strange on 17 March 2014
Hedning is right, there were just Dutch versions around and this one appeared just recently. Well done guys! | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 17 March 2014 User Comment Submitted by hedning on 17 March 2014
The german and dutch versions were available in Europe back in 85, and cracked: De Grotten van Oberon [dutch] by ABC for example, and CCS. The english version was released (licensed) on tape by the small australian company OziSoft, which could explain why is wasn't that spread. I have seen a disk version of it too though. | User Comment Submitted by hedning on 17 March 2014
That's the strange thing. It was released in english back in 85, but no crack of it could be found, so we did this to please the demanding crowd. ;) | User Comment Submitted by TheRyk on 17 March 2014
Nice one! Who did the translation? Hard to believe there was any English ori no one dug out yet. |
